Jun was smiling.

Early the next morning before work, the pair had met up at the back entrance of the NTV studio. As they rode the same old, slow elevator up to their usual floor, they were discussing what to say to their band mates.

“We’ll just tell them we’re a couple now.” Ohno offered nonchalantly as he pulled off his jacket that had seen better days. Jun almost dropped the cell phone he’d been texting with out of surprise.

“Really? It’s okay? I didn’t want to rush you...” His startled expression was mirrored by Ohno’s worried one.

“Jun... I’m not sure how to explain this, but...” Leader rubbed a hand on the back of his tan neck, looking at the elevator ceiling and thinking for a second. “Before last night, I’d always felt like I was waiting.”

“Waiting?” Most people couldn’t follow the sleepy man’s logic, but Matsujun could understand for once, because he’d had a similar impatience nagging at him before a certain dream one night.

“When you... kissed me, it felt right. I think... I was waiting... for this... for us.” Ohno’s voice had trailed off to a whisper.

I can’t believe it. He... feels the same way. Jun didn’t think his smile could get any bigger. Leader was still staring at the ceiling when he moved over to stand in front of him, arms wrapping around to pull the lithe body closer. Jun leaned in to give a quick kiss which the other lightly returned, cheeks burning red. Forgetting where they were, the ding of the elevator doors opening made them both jump. They laughed at themselves and quickly got off before they ended up back on the first floor.

The pair walked down the familiar hall, holding hands and swinging them playfully. Jun stopped in front of the door labeled “Arashi-sama” and nervously opened it a crack to see who had arrived. Aiba and Sho were sitting on either end of a brown couch, with Nino sprawled in a plush chair opposite from them.

The newscaster was diligently reading two newspapers, glancing back and forth to inspect the different presentations of a story. To his right sat Aiba, legs crossed, bent over, and looking through a snake book. As usual, the resident gamer had a calm expression as he pressing buttons viciously to maneuver his character through some danger. Jun looked over his shoulder and gave Leader’s hand a squeeze.

“Everyone’s here. Shall we?”

Their eyes met and with a nod, the couple entered the dressing room side by side. Jun felt his pulse racing, but he knew it was because he wanted the approval of his best friends more than anything. He was sure Ohno felt the same.

Here goes nothing. “We have some news for you guys.”

Still holding Ohno’s warm hand, Jun glanced at his boyfriend with a content smile.

“Satoshi’s agreed to move in with me.”

Nino’s hand froze over his Nintendo DS, looking up with an amazed expression. “Huh?” His inattention led to the death of Mario and an annoying tune signaling “Game Over.” The snake book Aiba had been reading fell to the table with a thud as he jumped up. “Really?! Leader’s finally gonna move out?” Sho only glimpsed up from his newspapers and scoffed, “’Bout time.”

Nino, being the insightful one, asked, “Why now?” Jun was unsure how to break the ice, but even he didn’t expect Ohno’s answer.

“Because Jun’s my boyfriend now.”The blunt statement silenced their friends. Nino and Aiba had matching gaped mouths and wide eyes that reminded Jun of a fishing picture Satoshi had shown him once. He also couldn’t help but notice Sho continued smirking, but reburied himself in his “Yomiuri” and “Asahi.”

One down.

“Since when?” Nino loudly exclaimed as he stood up from his chair, DS abandoned on the seat.

“Last night. He confessed to me at the exhibition.”

Aiba let out a whistle and climbed over the coffee table that was inconveniently in his way and threw an arm around Matsumoto’s shoulders. “Good going! Was it romantic?” Not waiting for an answer, he leaned forward to throw a wink to Leader. “Did you kiss?” Jun felt his face blushing as he smacked Aiba’s head. Ohno was also red, but he nodded in response. The miracle man let out a loud laugh and jumped back on the couch, stretching out to lay over Sho and get the other man’s opinion on how far they’d gone, much to the exasperation of the rapper.

Two down.

“Is this some kind of prank?” Aiba and Sho quieted down at the serious tone Nino was using. To everyone’s surprise Leader glared at the actor. “This isn’t something I would joke about.”

Nino was still staring with a frown on his face. “Aren’t you going pretty fast? Just moving in together all of a sudden?” The question was aimed at Ohno. Ninomiya hesitantly shuffled over to his best friend as Satoshi looked away.

“I don’t want to wait anymore,” mumbled Ohno as his attention was focused on the floor.

Jun could tell this was a matter between the two, so remained silent, but tightened his grip encouragingly. Ninomiya didn’t seem to understand his friend’s decision and Jun wondered if some of his disapproval came from the fact that Leader hadn’t mentioned anything about it to him first. After a long minute, Nino lowered his head as he made his own decision.

“Is this emo DoS really gonna make you happy, Oh-chan?”

Matsumoto only restrained himself because he sensed Nino was about to give in. Leader looked up from his tennis shoes, noticing the same thing.

“Yeah. I’m sure.”

Nino glanced back and forth between Jun and Ohno, thinking he should’ve seen it coming. Sighing in reluctant acceptance and shaking his head, he gave a warm smile to their Leader while ruffling his spiky hair. Everyone felt the mood shift from apprehensive back to their usual comfortable atmosphere in a second.

Ninomiya paused in messing up Leader’s hair as a thought occurred to him. He smirked impishly at Jun before moving his hand down to Ohno’s butt for an unexpected squeeze.

Leader yelped and stumbled into Jun’s side. Aiba and Sho both snickered at the new routine started by the trio.

“Hey!” Jun steadied his boyfriend before snatching the offending hand and pulling Nino nearer, glaring down at the prankster.

"Touch that spot again, Ninomiya Kazunari, and I'll glue your hands together. That'd make it kinda hard to practice your magic tricks, wouldn't it?" Matsujun growled menacingly in the gamer’s face.

Nino wouldn’t meet his eyes, but looked like he’d swallowed one of Aiba’s mystery concoctions.

The pair on the couch cracked up at the exchange. Unsurprisingly, their laughter could be heard on the next floor.

A bewildered staff member, who was sent to pick up Arashi to begin Shukudai’s filming, cautiously opened the door and announced the film crew was ready.

Nino put his arm around Ohno's shoulder as they were leaving, but stiffened when he felt a heated gaze from behind.

“What?” Nino spit out bitterly. “I’m not touching ‘that spot’.”

Reluctant to give his parents a heart attack when he started to bring packing boxes home, Ohno sat his mother and father down after dinner that night to announce his news. In the cozy living room, everyone settled into “their” respective spots; “Satoshi’s chair” and “his parent’s dreadful plaid love seat” were in an L shape diagonal from the TV and Wii system. His parents waited for him to get his thoughts together, as they knew their son was, by nature, not a quick thinker.

With no better way to start the conversation, Ohno gave up trying to find a delicate opening phrase and said, “Well, Mom, Dad, I’m moving out next week.”

Ohno didn’t think he’d ever seen his father seem so shocked, not even when he’d finally beat Ohno Senior at Wii bowling. His parents had certainly never assumed Satoshi would leave the nest, even though his sister had left at the first chance available, eager to start her own life.

While his father’s expression resembled a dead fish, his mother curiously looked like a detective who’d solved a mystery. “Ah. I was wondering why you looked so cheerful yesterday.” She patted a hand over his, smiling, “So, where’s your new place?”

Ah...Guess it’s time to drop the other bombshell. Ohno bit his lip.

“I’m moving in with Jun. You see...” Both his parents were a little relieved at the mention of the other superstar; most likely because they really didn’t believe their son would fare well on his own. “You see...Jun asked me to be his boyfriend...and...I agreed.”

There was a flip of reactions as his mother appeared shocked and the other man nodded his head, humming in interest.

He must not have heard me...

Ohno senior crossed his arms and settled back into the couch. “I see. Well, I wish you two all the best. Matsujun sure has strange taste though.”

“Huh?” was all Satoshi could think to say.

His father smiled at him, explaining, “You have my blessing. I’m happy for you two, and I’m sure you’ll make a cute couple. Your mother thinks so too. She’s probably just in shock that she missed the signs.”

Ohno glanced at his mother, still seeing a dazed expression. She had resumed patting her son’s hand however.

“Give her a day to work it out,” Ohno senior advised calmly, leaning forward to put his wrinkled hand over their clasped ones.

Satoshi nodded, still a bit worried.

“So...” His father stood up and rolled his shoulders. “We should decide a champion for Wii sports before you move out then.” Satoshi’s father was already beginning to set up the system and locate the controllers.

Ohno couldn’t help but smirk, shaking his head in disbelief.

Author’s Note:

So I’ve found that Nino is difficult to write realistically. Every time I read through his parts, I can’t figure out if he should be sarcastic or serious. -_- But anyway, I’m happy with how his character has turned out.

Ohno’s mother and father are another story. There isn’t much information on his parents, so it allowed me to have a bit of fun with them.
