Nouwen is one of my favorite authors - his essay, "Adam's Peace" helped shape the my thoughts on being as opposed to doing, particularly in regards to love.

thank you for the quote ;-)

you're a quick one with the replies, missy ;-p

i'm not sure which book houses "Adam's Peace" - i found it in an anthology - which you're welcome to borrow if you'd like.
...
actually, i just found a link:
http://www.pottershousebooks.org/HTML/reviews/nouwen.html

it's a review of Adam: God's Beloved, in which the essay is contained.

i also just found this great article about Nouwen:
http://www.fatherjohndear.org/articles/henri_nouwen.htm

and last but not least, i'm also reading (very slowly and haphazardly) Return of the Prodigal, which he wrote after spending time meditating on Rembrandt's Prodigal Son painting.
i think i misspelled Rembrandt. you'd think, with all the tooth-whitening commercials . . .
