We did it!!!! That was my first ever tramping sesh and although my poor legs ached as if I'd climbed up a mountain with a pack the size and weight of a small elephant on my back, it was an awesome sense of achievement ( Read more... )

Congratulations on your first tramp :-) Mat and I were talking about doing some hiking sometime - of course it's a bit harder when one of you has to carry Savannah though!

Decent walking boots are essential - I have a pair of Salomons, I think they cost around £130 which is a lot but they are brilliant. Now seems to be quite a good time to shop for things like that - end of the season I guess, I got a pair of Keens (the half-sandal half-trainer shoes) a couple of weeks ago for half price. As for sleeping bags - I used to take a hot water bottle when I went LARPing! People used to laugh, but I didn't spend half the night shivering!

Well done Becks, sounds like you had a good time (even if you suffered a little afterwards). I am very impressed with your adventures and even more impressed by the fact that you escaped injury :).

Did you take a picture of the view from the toilet?
