I use xD (XD is ++)) a lot, this was very used in Spanish communities but I have seen it spreading lately.
Also this one ¬¬ which I still haven't seen spread so much, perhaps because it is not in US qwerties? as is maybe obvious, it is an annoyed "I hate you" face, closing the eyes. But normally nothing serious. For that you may use :@ And :$ (I think this is just directly picked up from MSN codes) that's ashamed/blushing.
