Ok, I'll start out positive...

What is the BEST thing about being a yearbook adviser?

I love seeing the creativity of my students. They may really struggle in my English classroom and then flourish once they get their hands on InDesign. It's an opportunity for them to shine.

The creativity! I love seeing how talented the students are and seeing them be able to do something with that.

Plus - I get to play around with it too.

I just realized I didn't answer this. I like - I guess I just like production. It's so different from anything else we do in school. Students get to (at first - then it becomes "have to!") create something that other people actually care about. I like toying with layouts, seeing what will work; looking for great (well, usable, at least) photos... spitballing headlines... yeah. I like production.

Oh, and I like counting money. I think the students get a sense of accomplishment when they finish their deadlines, and definitely when they see the final product. Mine comes mostly when I see that we've made budget. ;D
