she doesn't have time to spend with me because of work and she can't afford it.

I'm really sorry you're not getting to go, but I promise this summer is going to be amazing. Try to be optimistic about it. Also, I think you should tell your mom that you don't like how infrequently you talk, because I bet she would make more time to keep in touch with you if you pointed it out to her.
