Modest genius! Bravo !odette100August 29 2005, 19:45:04 UTC
Don't be so modest, Mr Jimmy ! I usually work with conte, pastels and acrylics and have recently started working with Prismacolor so I know how hard it is to achiweve the texturing you have in this portrait of "Elizabeth". Did you take any type of art classes to learn this? Was it self taught?
I am going to attempt to do some portraits in Prismacolor in the near future. But I am sure it will take me a TON of time to get remotely close to your technical achievement!

Thank you, Odette.
Prismacolors ARE difficult, I agree. I don't feel as loose as I do with pen or pencil...I'm still trying to find that...only practice will get me there.
Oh yes...I took a LOT of art classes. Starting at age 11. In college, I was a Fine Arts major, concentration in painting. I still take life class every semester at the college where I work...(for free!)

I am not an arts major, but would have liked to have taken more art courses.
I suppose I am more self taught than anything else. I picked up crayons before I could talk at 8 months of age and drew a circle, two dots for eyes, one dot for a nose, an upside U for a frown and little dots for tears and showed it to my mom when she was combing the knots out of my hair! LOL! Ever since then, I have been dabbling here and there with some art classes.
I noticed that we share a lot of interests and have added you to my Yahoo! Messenger. Maybe I can send you some of my art stuff. I haven't done much portraiture other than during some art classes where we had nude models. I have developed a certain style of my own. I really hope you can give me feedback, however negative it is!
I haven't documented all of my art work. I only photographed some old stuff. I'll have to get some sort of "portfolio" done.
