Yes, they should have *both* been wearing helmets. My question: how did they find out the "truth", if the guy was dead and the girl probably didn't know that the brakes had failed? Was she smart enough to figure out that he was trying to save her life? I don't think so...

Maybe the police was like '0mgz brake failure!' cuz they checked to see what went wrong in order to have the accident. . . then the girl was like '0mgz before we crashed he risked his life for me' and they were both like '0mgz how sweet.'

yeah, that's a bit of a catch-22 thing there. I guess that is just what the girl realised must have been the case, because it sounds rather random really. but meh
