Sometimes, I just get in my car and drive out a road I haven't been on before. Or more like, I've been on the road for some reason before, but not all the way down it, and I want to see how far it goes. These trips have become less frequent in recent years because of gas prices, but I still need them sometimes.
And then there was the one I took a couple of months ago. I just happened to spot a small town on a map called Decatur, Tennessee, not far from Chattanoooga. I needed to be listen to a 5-hour project on my iPod for something I was working on, so I decided to make a day trip from Decatur, GA to Decatur, TN. There was nothing exciting there; it was just something to do, somewhere I hadn't been.
Right there with you. Add a 7 for me: does not involve seeing family.
Me, I wan to go with my husband to Washington DC. We'd tour the museums at the Smithsonian at our own pace, take the Monuments by Moonlight tour, skinny dip in the Reflecting Pool, who knows?
Yup, #5 details all the places where my family currently is.
DC is a great place to visit. There are many good restaurants, and if you stay out in the suburbs you can take Metro and save on hotel costs. (I myself have never done the Monuments by Moonlight tour, it sounds cool!) :)
