You'll never realize one's importance unless they're gone.

Yuri was sitting in a cafe, observing its patrons like how she would every single time she pays a visit. Usually, she drops by to get coffee then take off for work but today was no ordinary day. Her wife asked her to meet her at the cafe so there she sat, patiently waiting for the woman.

Minutes passed and someone occupied the seat in front of her. The woman relatively short with long blonde hair. The woman was not her wife. Her wife wouldn't dye her hair blonde.

"Yoona wouldn't be able to come so she sent me." The blonde seemed to have read her mind for her question was answered even before she raised it.

"What the hell? She called me last night, asking if we could meet today then she won't be able to come?!" Yuri's fist met the table, startling the nearby customers.

"I’m sorry on Yoona's behalf."

"She better be, Hyo. I canceled all my appointments for the whole morning just to meet her."

"Again, I’m sorry for that." Hyoyeon once again apologized. "Anyway, I’m here because Yoona wanted you to sign these." She handed Yuri the manila envelope.

Yuri took the contents of the envelope. Her brows furrow as she read the document. "Divorce papers?"

Hyoyeon nodded. "She wants closure."

"No."

"What?"

"I said no. I won't sign these." Yuri returned the documents in the envelope and handed it back to Hyoyeon.

"What's wrong with you, Kwon Yuri?! The both of you have been separated for 5 months already! Aren't you done making her suffer from your marriage? Why do you keep tying her down to that stupid marriage of yours?!" Hyoyeon ranted. She shoved the envelope back to Yuri but she was careful enough not to ruin the documents inside. "I’ll be going now. call me when you signed the papers." Hyoyeon took off.

Yuri was left staring at the envelope, asking herself the same thing? Why was she holding on to Yoona?

*

Yuri dumped the envelope on the passenger seat of her car and took her phone out.

"Jiyeon, cancel all my appointments today. You can leave after that, I’m taking the day off." Yuri ended the phone call and drove off.

*

♫Ni ga in nun go se Na do ham ke hal ke♫

"Hey babe."

"Hey, I called your office but Jiyeon said you took the day off."

"Oh yeah, sorry about that. something came up and I forgot to call you Fany, I’m sorry." Yuri pleaded.

"It's fine baby...uhm I got to go baby, I’ll call you later."

"Okay babe. Come over later. I miss you."

"I will. Bye."

"Bye. Love you." Tiffany hang up without replying Yuri.

she placed her phone on the countertop and massage her temples. she's in a lot of mess. suddenly, she felt something wrap around her waist. she turned around and met those brown orbs that she never seem to get tired of.

"When will you end things with her?" The girl asked Tiffany.

"tomorrow?"

"and you're coming to her house later." The girl released her hold of Tiffany and walked away clearly disappointed.

it took Tiffany less than a second to chase the girl and block the latter's way. Tiffany gave the girl a long kiss before whispering, "You know that i love you right Jessi? please give me at least a day to end things with Yuri. Please?"

"Okay. but after one day it's over with Yuri."

"yep, it's over with her." Tiffany said as she shared a passionate kiss with Jessica before dragging the girl to the bedroom.

*

Yuri placed her phone on the bedside table and plopped down her bed. she just got off the phone with Tiffany, her current girlfriend and the cause of her broken marriage.

their relationship started as an affair. Yuri was out of the country for a business trip and she and Yoona fought over the phone. deciding that it would be better to blow off steam. she went to a bar. there she met Tiffany. the two hit off and spent every night together doing things they shouldn't have done

When Yuri went back to Korea, she started seeing Tiffany behind Yoona's back. Everything went smoothly until Yoona paid a surprise visit to Yuri's office.

[Flashback]

Yuri was in the middle of unbuttoning Tiffany's pants when her tinted glass door suddenly broke. the shards of glass fell on the carpeted floor. and by the broken glass door stood her emotionless wife who was holding the chair she used to smash the door and her seemingly frightened secretary.

"Yoon-"

"Shut up Kwon!!" Her wife cut her off. "i can't believe I’m so stupid. here I am, wanting to ask you out for lunch, only to see that you're already having dessert." Yoona spat out, her tone was sharp and full of anger.

"Le-"

"there's nothing to explain Kwon Yuri!!" with that, Yoona turned to Jiyeon. "I’m sorry for breaking your chair and shouting at you a few minutes ago. I’ll have your chair replaced later." Yoona turned her back and walked away but after a few feet, she turned back to Yuri. "and i almost forgot, we're over. Don't expect to see me at the apartment when you get there, well that is of you're still planning to go back." Yoona faced Tiffany. "she's all yours for all i care."

there, at that moment, she knew that Yoona walked away from her life. the woman was gone. FOREVER.

[End of Flashback]

Yoona was true to her word that day. when Yuri arrived, she found the shoe rack half-empty and when she went to their walk-in closet, the other half of the closet was empty.

*knock knock*

Yuri opened the door to a seriously looking Tiffany.

"Hey babe." Yuri leaned for a kiss on the lips but Tiffany turned to face to the other direction resulting to a kiss on the cheek.

Yuri was unsuspecting. She never thinks of possible or hidden agendas behind other people's action.

"What's wrong babe?" She asked.

"Just had a bad day." Tiffany lied. Truth to be told, she was having a great day due to the fact that she knew after she straighten things out with Yuri, she can finally be with the person she wanted.

"oh...okay. So come on, i made lasagna." The tanned girl said as she pulled Tiffany to the kitchen.

"Wait Yuri. I need to tell you something." Tiffany tugged away the other girl's hand. "and no, it cannot wait." she added.

"fine what is it?" Yuri said, impatiently.

Tiffany took a deep breath. "Let's break up."

it took Yuri a few minutes to digest Tiffany's words.

"Yuri?"

"…Why?"

"I'm seeing someone else." Tiffany bit her bottom lip then continued. "I love her more than anything else. I’m sorry. Goodbye." Tiffany gave a quick peck on Yuri's cheek and left the lavish apartment.

Yuri was left standing by the door, staring at the spot where Tiffany stood. She cannot understand what was happening.

It was her third heartbreak. The first was when Yoona broke up with her when they were still dating. She made a stupid mistake by badmouthing the girl's mother. But they made up after exactly 24 hours. Both realized they can't live a day without each other.

Her second heartbreak was the one she not know of. Her heart broke without her knowing when she arrive to an empty apartment; all of Yoona's belongings gone.

~*~

Yuri doesn't know why she was standing on Yoona's porch, holding the manila envelope in her hands. Why didn’t she just called Yoona to meet up? That she didn’t know. It was like her body moved on its own. She was about to knock on the door when the old woman next door spoke.

“The young lady living there is not inside.”

“Pardon Ma’am?” Yuri said clearly confused.

“She’s such a fine and gorgeous lady. But she’s always crying for the past months. I wonder why?” The old woman sighed.

“Do you know where she might be?”

“She’s in the hospital. I heard she had an accident the other day and she’s still in coma. Poor lady.”

Yuri wasn’t able to thank the old woman for she had dashed to her car as soon as she heard the word hospital.

~*~

Yuri didn’t know why was acting like this. Confused. She was driving like a madman to the hospital where Yoona was confined. Worry started to fill her broken heart.

She couldn’t understand herself. Why was she worried about her soon to be ex-wife.

~*~

Hyoyeon and her companion was looking bewildered at the sudden presence of someone they never expected. Yuri was there, sitting beside the sleeping Yoona, holding the younger’s hand.

Is this why you don’t want to sign those papers, huh Kwon Yuri? Hyoyeon thought.

“Hyo, why is Yuri here?” Hyoyeon’s companion whispered softly to the blonde girl.

“I have no idea Soo.” Hyoyeon whispered back and cleared her throat. “Uhm, Yuri, what are you doing here?”

“Why didn’t you tell me that she was involved in an accident?” Yuri ignored and stood up to face Hyoyeon.

“Because we are in the position to do so.” Sooyoung argued.

“But still! I’m her wife!”

“No you’re not.” A voice said from behind.

The trio turned to look at the doe eyed girl looking back at them.

“You’re no longer my wife.” Yoona repeated. “I thought those divorce papers were clear enough. Have you signed them?” She added.

“No.” Yuri replied.

“Please sign them now so it can be processed.” Yoona said meekly.

Yuri complied with Yoona’s request. Though the deepest part of her heart was protesting and telling her not to. But her heart’s call wasn’t heard. Yuri signed the papers and handed them back to Yoona with much hesitation.

“Thank you.” Yoona said.

Yuri nodded in acknowledgement. She then turned around and walked out of the room wordlessly.

~*~

“Yuri yah!” Hyoyeon called.

The blonde girl followed her out of the hospital.

“Can we talk?”

“Sure. Is the café across the street fine?”

“Yes.”

~*~

“So what do you want to talk about?” Yuri asked as she sipped her coffee.

“Yoona.”

“What about her?”

“She still loves you.” Hyoyeon stated.

“No she doesn’t.” Yuri countered.

“Yes she does. If she doesn’t why were her tears endless when she moved out of your apartment? Why was she still wearing your wedding band? And most of all, why would she risk calling you, in the middle of the night, when she was driving at a busy road?”

“Wait, she did all of that?” Yuri asked, clearly surprised of the information.

“Yes she did.”

“But she asked for divorce.”

“She did it to move on.”

“She’s really making news?” A young woman asked as she flip the pages of the business magazine she was reading.

“Yup.” Yuri replied.

“You know, when we broke up, I thought you two would get back together.” Tiffany said.

“And why, may I ask?”

“Because when we we’re together, you unconsciously do things the both of you used to do. You kept a hidden folder full of her pictures in your laptop.”

“I didn-“

“Don’t deny it Yuri. I saw it. It’s in the folder marked important business files. If I’m not mistaken it’s the 8th folder and it was named ‘KIY.’ And never did once you removed your wedding band.”

Yuri’s face flashed beet red upon realization. What Tiffany said were apparently true.

“Aren’t you suppose to be with Jessica? I don’t want to be beaten up by your wife.” Yuri tried to divert Tiffany’s attention.

“hahahaha..nice try Kwon. That technique won’t work with me. So have you two met again?”

“No.”

“Do you still love her?”

“…”

“Answer me Kwon Yuri.” Tiffany demanded.

“I-I don’t know…I mean we lost contact.”

“Well I think you do.” Tiffany took something from her wallet. “Here. Call her.” She said as she handed Yuri a calling card.

“Where did you get this?”

“Well my awesome and lovely wife worked with her a month ago so yeah…” Tiffany smiled. “Go on. Call her.”

Yuri was sitting in a cafe, waiting for her ex-wife. Suddenly it felt like déjà vu. She was once again sitting at the same chair waiting for the same person in the same café. Only this time she’s sure that the person she was waiting for would be coming.

“You waited long?” Yoona sat in front of Yuri.

“No. I just got here.” Lie. Yuri got to the café an hour ago.

“So what do you want to talk about?”

“How are you?” Yuri asked.

“I’m doing well. How about you?”

It took Yuri a few seconds to voice out what she wanted to tell Yoona the most. “I missed you.” She said weakly but was enough for Yoona to hear.

“Yuri, please..”

“I know Yoona. I made a really stupid mistake before..”

“It’s the end for us. We’re divorced. It’s the end.” Yoona stood up, preparing to leave the café when Yuri took hold of her wrists.

“You told me before when we were fifteen that the end always marks the beginning. I know things ended between us, but please Yoona, give me another chance. Give us another chance.” She pleaded.

“I don’t know Yul… I’m scared.” Tears slid down Yoona’s face.

“Don’t be. I won’t leave you. I won’t make the same mistake.” Yuri said as she pulled the weeping girl into her arms.

~*~

Months passed and Yuri was doing everything to gain back Yoona’s trust. She did things she didn’t do before. She wakes up extra early every morning to bring Yoona to work and picks her up every afternoon and if she’s free, she brings the other girl food every time she decides to drop by Yoona’s office. And today was no exception, only the time was quite out of the ordinary routine.

Yuri walked casually into Yoona’s office building. It was almost midnight and Yoona was still in her office. Yuri was already at home, ready to sleep when she suddenly thought of the younger girl. Concerned about the girl, she decided to pay a visit.

There was no one in the building aside from the security guards who guards every floor of the building. Since Yuri was very familiar to them (someone very close to their boss), they let her in without any problems. She entered the elevator and went to the top most floor where Yoona’s office was situated. Once she got out of the elevator she was greeted by Yoona’s secretary, SooJi.

“Why are you still here SooJi-ssi?” Yuri asked quietly.

The young girl bowed. “Ms. Yoona decided to do an overtime and I had to accompany her as her secretary.” The young girl explained.

“Oh. I’ll take it from here. You could go home now. I think I saw your boyfriend waiting for you in the lobby.” Yuri dismissed the young secretary.

“Okay Miss Yuri. Thank you.” Sooji gave a final bow and entered the elevator.

Yuri opened the door to Yoona’s office quietly. She was surprised to see a sleeping Yoona. Her computer was off telling Yuri that the girl was about to depart when she fell asleep. She chuckled at the thought.

Seeing how uncomfortable Yoona’s position was, Yuri decided to wake the girl. She shook the girl lightly. After a few seconds, Yoona stirred and awoken.

“Oh Yuri. What are you doing here?” Yoona said as she lightly rubbed sleepiness off her eyes. Yuri found the action very cute.

“I’m here to bring you home. Come on.” Yuri took Yoona’s bag.

“Oh..” Yoona stood up from her seat. “Shoot! I forgot to tell Suzy to go home.”

“No need, I told her to go home.”

~*~

“Here, you must be hungry.” Yuri handed Yoona a sandwich once they entered the car.

“Thank you.” Yoona said as she ate the sandwich happily.

The ride to Yoona’s house was relatively quiet. A few questions were thrown and answered.

They were nearing Yoona’s neighborhood when the pitter patter of rain was heard. After a minute or so, heavy rain poured down, making the road very slippery but nonetheless they arrived at Yoona’s house safely. Yuri escorted Yoona to the porch.

“Thanks for the ride.” Yoona said with a smile.

“No problem.” Yuri returned a smile and turned around to leave when Yoona tugged her hand.

“Stay.” Yoona said firmly.

“what?” Yuri asked, softly as she could for her heart was thumping with joy.

“I said stay. It’s raining hard and the road is slippery…” Yoona spoke shyly.

Yuri gave a smile before agreeing. “Okay.”

~*~

Both girls were lying on Yoona’s western king size bed (due to the younger’s wishes), facing the ceiling. No words were spoken, just mere silence. Yoona was about to drift to sleep when the tanned girl spoke.

“Yoona?” She faced the doe-eyed girl.

“Hmm?”

“Thank you for letting me stay for the night.” She said sincerely.

“No problem.”

Silence.

“Yuri?” Yoona said softly facing the tanned girl.

“Yes?”

“I like you.” Yoona whispered as she inched closer to Yuri. Eyes trained on the older girl’s lips.

Yuri’s eyes involuntarily closed, awaiting the doe-eyed’s action. Not too long, she felt soft lips pressed against her own. It was a long, soft and gentle kiss. Emotions kept were poured into the kiss. The longing for each other and love.

I love you, Yuri.

I love you too, Yoona.
