Haha, icon stealer. I guess that was the problem...too many people with martinis at practically giveaway prices (see lifeguard_jen's reply below for what they should have done...
*sigh* Yeah, I read that on the front page of the JS today.
It's sad, really...but the organizers of the event should have picked a better venue for their function and the art museum bookers should have looked into that funtion more carefully.
I mean, an art museum calls for a fundraiser selling $200 tickets with a 5 course meal and live jazz band...not a $30 martinifest.
But you can't deny that Chicagoans would have done the same thing.
Good call. It is sad, but I guess hindsight is 20/20...but still, it involves a little common sense. Makes me proud of my hometown. How're you liking Milwaukee so far?
They called it "Martinifest" and then provided UNLIMITED martinis. I don't care what city you are in...if you tell the average Joe that they have to pay a certain dollar amount to have all they can drink, they will certainly try to get more than their money's worth. It becomes a challenge, really.
I believe it. Milwaukee can be great if you take advantage of all it has to offer. Been to Brady Street/the East Side yet? There's some really cool stuff around there.
i'd have to say the martinifest was worse then the gum they key to my reasoning being the museum okay-ed the event, at that price(which i would bet, is what an average person on a night out spends) how could you think any of that wouldn't happen?
as for the gum "He is only 12 and I don't think he understood the ramifications of what he did." Bullshit, he's a snot nosed kid, who probably thought it was funny. he knew exactly what he was doing, now if he just spit it out with out aiming... there might be some leniency as to his intentions
