I think it does the characters a great disservice to build them up as having some sort of friendly relationship pre-show (whether they just mildly tolerated each other or if it was something more than that) and then completely turn it around and have them sabotaging each other all over the place.

I love it when Santana tries to act like she doesn't give a damn while she's being nice to people. I really liked this, and you have a really great Santana voice :)

This is such high praise, thank you so much! I'm pretty sure there's more to every character on Glee than we're being sure, Santana especially. And it's so endearing that she tries to be so hardcore but then she gets all soft about things.
