I have a question for all you Harry Potter fans out there: Do Hermione's parents love her at all? Do they even care about her a little bit? They're so ready to just send her off to boarding school and then never see her even during breaks because she either stays at the castle or goes to Ron's house. I'd like to ask that of J.K. Rowling.

I think they just want her to be happy, and her being happy involves them taking a big step back and allowing her to live in what is a totally seperate world from their own. I always took for granted that they were around for her, somehow implied. I don't know, maybe they don't love her and book 7 will involve some serious Hermoine problems with her mom & dad. She will become depressed and unable to aid her friends in the final battle against Voldemort and everyone will die. All because her parents love teeth more than their daughter.

I think they are lax with her because they understand how much learning, regardless of what the subject is, is something she's enthusiastic about. They are either so absorbed in their work that they don't have time to worry (since they have no clue about voldemort and whatnot), or they are slowly shunning her, the way petunia shunned lily for being a witch. maybe.
