More guitars

OK, an idea for my guitar (which, btw, I'm a few months off affording):

I get a Yamaha RGX A2, then mod it up with some quality pickups. Maybe a beefy humbucker and a brighter, thinner one. I still need to work out exactly what the upgrade will be. I'll wait 'til I get the guitar and see what it's lacking

i like the "bling" LED's.... ;) am i right in thinking it's a resin body?
Damn you and bob for talking about guitars now i'm tempted to buy this http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=155 (and i ken i'm no good enough atm without adding more effects so feel guilty for wanting it.)

the Ashdown pedals are all amazing. The Ashdown Labs set of separate pre and power amps, plus their powered bass monitor, gave me wet dreams for months. I still wanna build up my own custom rig, all rack mounted with a light module etc... the possibilities are so expensive!

also, with Ashdown just remember that in the trade, they are referred to as 'Beakdown'. Though my evo has never had a problem. but then I've never really toured with it

well to cut a long story down, it wasn't any good. it faded in and out of doing the effect rather than doing it continuously :( ah well at least i saved money

Thats what happens when you spend all day at work trawling guitar websites :P

If I get that, then it'll also mean that you can get a Pacifica without us looking dumb on stage together

i actually recorded a band at college last week whose guitarist used one of those - they look ace, but they sound brilliant as they are - i'd maybe advise against replacing the pickups as it seemed pretty bright... also, the sustain seemed to last for about 5 or 6 seconds before it started to decay - MAD (percect for all your epic prog solos ;)

I thought it would be bright, but I'd want bit more grunt. thought about replacing one with a Gibson ceramic humbucker for a bit of dirt in the sound

as you correctly guessed, I don't need that much sustain. Even though the whole selling point of the AIR body is increased sustain. I just think it looks cool :)

I'll wait to see what it sounds like before doing anything. I'll probably consult a load of people before-hand as well. you, Bob etc
