Searching for Aang

Nov 22, 2010 20:06

Katara stumbled blindly down the hall. She had had way too much to drink, and was feeling a little depressed and it was all Zuko's fault! Her mind swirled from the drink, and his words still echoed in her head. She wasn't sexy enough for Aang? That had never been a problem before, in fact, it was quite the opposite. Most of the time he couldn't ( Read more... )

"Roasted cow-chicken... where is it?" Aang mumbled to himself. He had a small bag of fire flakes tucked under his arm while he rummaged through the cabinets. The chef was out (probably sleeping), so he was at a loss as to where the meat might be hiding. If he didn't find any soon, he'd have to cook some. The thought of roasting meat did not sit well with him; he shuddered.

Maybe Azula would be happy with just the fire flakes.... Of course, then he would feel guilty for not letting her eat what she'd asked for.

He thought he'd heard footsteps outside, but after pausing for a moment and hearing nothing, he figured he was just imagining things. The young Avatar shrugged and continued his search.

Katara poked her head into the kitchen. Aang was searching, with a bag of fire flakes under his arm, for something. Pots had fallen out of the cabinets and on to the floor. She stifled a small giggle. He probably had no idea how much noise he was making. He stomach rumbled again and she walked up to him.

"Is there something I can help you find?" she asked, speech a little slurred, leaning against the center island.

Aang jumped. The bag of fire flakes fell to the ground. Turning, he let out a long sigh. "Oh, it's only you, Katara," he said. Then again, why would he be worried if anyone caught him in the kitchen, anyway? Maybe spending time with Azula was making him on edge.

"What are you up to?" With a grunt, he reached down to pick up his mess. He thought he could smell alcohol, but figured, well, he was in the kitchen.

"Looking for you," she slurred. "Whatcha dooin'?"

She was still leaning against the island even though she really wanted to run to him.

"Azula is here? In the palace?" she asked. "She probably thought it was funny to make you get her food."

She tied her wrap around her quickly, still revealing more than she had intended and reached behind him.

"It's right here. Maybe we should warm it up a little."

"I offered. She hasn't eaten in days," Aang said softly. "She thinks someone is going to poison her."

With a sigh, he went to collect the fire flakes, his gaze lingering on Katara for a moment. The idea of cooking the meat made him make a face, but he agreed, nonetheless.

"Here," Katara said, taking the pan from his hands. "I can cook it for you. I know how you feel about meat."

She made a face. Cow-chicken wasn't her favorite Fire Nation dish, but it could be worse.

"You want to find something we can eat together?" she asked, smiling meekly.

Aang couldn't help but smile. Despite everything that had occurred, he was just... so glad she was there. He moved behind her, sighing and resting his forehead on her shoulder.

"Maybe I'll take you out to eat after we're done." He chuckled, realizing it was late. "Well, maybe someplace will still be open, at least."
