I started listening to Dylan because my favorite songwriter, Nick Cave, cited Dylan's songwriting style as an influence. I bought Blood on the tracks, followed by John Wesley Harding, and Slow Train Coming (Cave's professed favorite). Another couple years passed before I picked up Desire, Bring it Back Home, and Nashville Skyline. I love all of them, but Desire trums everything else to date
( ... )
I remember your record player! I loved it and wanted one of my own so bad. You guys always had the coolest toys! Anyway, I remember listening to some of those songs when I would saunder into your room and bug you and your sister. I remember hearing Jessie's Girl, but maybe that was the radio?
Another thing. I was the Acoustic Cafe announcer a few years ago and I never thought I would like any music other than rock, pop and dance/electronica type of stuff. Now, a few years later,I am no longer doing that shift with the music I really didn't like and suddenly rock is too loud, and I am appreciating Allison Krauss, Gillian Welch, Peter Mulvey and others. But sorry, not so much with Dylan. I will have to work on that.
