Runnin' on Empty--literally

I could see black between the needle and the bottom of the red empty line, and I was really thankful as I coasted into the gas station. So, all was said and done, and I pumped in 18.7 gallons of gas ... never pumped that much before. Out of curiosity, I checked my manual ... 18 gallon capacity. Can we say I was seriously out of gas?
