I was on my way to meet up with Derrick tonight to play some poker. I was only a block and half away from the North Berkeley BART stop when this fellow ran up behind me, placed his hand around my neck and demanded my wallet. The dirt bag that strong armed you likely has priors. I really don't believe that you were his cherry robbery. Regardless of his comment about not wanting to do it, he did in fact rob you. He used intimidation and a threat to take what wasn't his.
Your cooperation with the cops made all the difference. Without your help, this guy would do it again tonight to somebody else. Perhaps a guy from Cal, perhaps a little old lady from Northside. He needed to be removed from the street and you made that happen - no ID, no arrest. Attaboy

This is the part that sucks.
Congrats on walking away without serious injury -- some of the robberies that have been coming through on the CS police blotter are stunningly violent. And big kudos for helping capture the @#%^*. Sorry that he's probably not going to get a suitable punishment.
