Those slot canyons are un-freakin-believable! I wish we had more natural formations that are even half as interesting as that. That's all natural light, I assume?
Yep, diffused sunlight -- it was probably around 8am so the sun was still low. Those slots are best photographed early in the morning or late afternoon, when the sun's not directly overhead, casting strong shadows. It was challenging to set up a tripod in some of those areas (see the photo on the far right -- that's the canyon floor in some spots!), but long exposures and a tripod are the only way to go in slot canyons. I'm learning more and more how much patience is required to take good photos.
