[With the event over, Thirteen feels much safer about venturing out into the village.  ...The last thing he wanted is any memories of the Ulysses incident getting out.  He may have told Martel about it, but the visions of what he saw still haunt him.

But regardless of that, Thirteen heads out into the village in the morning to get some groceries and ( Read more... )

[Since it's Mori's birthday tomorrow (on the 5th), Doumeki happened to be browsing through the model kits right beside Thirteen.]

[And here he picks up the box with the F-4E on it, and gives it a look over.]

...Never expected them to have something like this.

[Glances at the box than at the person speaking.] The shops cater to the residents.

Yes, but given the Malnosso are fighting a war, I'm surprised they find the time.

...Unless everything's automated based on our desires.

[...Tone implying that would be really, really weird.]

[She normally doesn't go in Good Spirits, really she doesn't. But she's currently looking about for Cooro (who knows where they silly boy's gotten off to) and thinks he may have wandered inside. She knows Guy won't serve him anything but juice, so she's not exactly worried, but... Yeah, she'll be poking her head in and looking around.

And smelling paint. (Even if it's not strong paint, she's got supersenses anyway.)

She'll spot Yellow Thirteen then, painting away, and she'll decide Cooro can wait. Strolling over to stand nearby:] It's quite a contraption. ...What does it do? [Not the model. She knows the model is just for painting. She's referring to the real thing it's modeled after.]

[Martel gets a smile as she approaches. It's always nice to see her.]

This is a fighter aircraft from my world. It's able to fly through the air faster than the speed of sound and meant to shoot down other aircraft. This plane is older than most in the Erusian Air Force, but it served well in its time.

So somehow you're to tell me that, in a world without the power of mana to keep it aloft, a machine so large as that managed to stay airborne?

Yes, definitely.

[He puts the brush down and carefully turns the model's tail to face Martel. He points to one of the two engines on the back.]

These engines provide immense amounts of power, or thrust. They're powered by a special type of high-performance fuel. But when these engines fire up, they allow the plane to move at high speed.

[And then he slowly turns the plane around and points to one of the wings.]

With that speed, these wings here... they generate lift, which pulls the plane into the air and can keep it there.
