recently, there's been some extremely vigorous debate about an incident in a Melbourne school where a student teacher had her internship terminated by the Principal because she truthfully answered students' questions about her partner. yep, Nic, and it was a very good one. yr dead right about the hysteria surrounding education generally. I linked to the Troppo posts because that's where I'd participated in the discussion and I mentioned that Mark had posted some links - from which ppl could get to yr post.

as you may know, I'm American, and used to some fairly vigorous argument on this sort of thing. but to be honest, the degree of overt homophobia, and some people's caving into it, really shocked me in the Australian context.
