G-RI Shenanigans

Big Bang drabble salvaged from my old k-pop journal, which I decided to shut down. Made this a whopping four years ago! God I feel old... T__T

Daesung/TOP friendship. PG. Word Count: 971.

When Daesung walks into the apartment, he immediately throws his bag on the floor and drops face first into the sofa.

From the loveseat next to the sofa, Seunghyun raises an eyebrow. “What’s up with you?”

“Mumble mumble,” goes Daesung and Seunghyun sighs, “I can’t hear you when you’re talking through a mouthful of sofa.”

Daesung raises his head, “I said, I’m never going to a photo shoot alone with Seungri ever again. EVER.” Then he drops his head back into the sofa like those few words have drained him of his last bit of energy.

Seunghyun smirks and turns back to his channel-flipping. “That bad, huh?”

“Mumble, mumble.”

Seunghyun sighs and remarks idly, “Well, it can’t be as bad as what Youngbae and I went through with Mr. Kwon Leader today.”

A slight pause.  Daesung knows a challenge when he hears it.

Daesung raises his head just enough so he’s not speaking through the sofa and says evenly. “Did hyung try to show off his singing skills by doing a craptastic solo acapella of one of our songs in front of all the noonas?” Seunghyun grins, but quickly fights it down.

“No,” the rapper admits, “But he did show up in a full neon pink suit and a green Hello Kitty cap to our photo shoot today. Mind you, the theme of the shoot was supposed to be ‘natural’. The photographer almost blew a gasket.” At that, Daesung laughs despite himself and almost falls flat on his face. He pulls himself up into a sitting position, still giggling. Mission accomplished, Seunghyun thinks to himself, and with the slightest hint of a smile, turns back to the TV.

He can’t count the number of times Daesung has stormed into their shared apartment in a mood after something Seungri had said or done in public. It’s always in public. In front of a camera or important people, Seungri acts like an attention-starved child, losing every shred of humility that he possibly holds. He would sing, dance and probably even strip if he had the right audience. It’s enough to make the rest of the members curl away in embarrassment. Seungri who? No, we don’t know anyone by that name.

In private though, Seungri is almost normal, if slightly overconfident for his age. Seunghyun has a feeling this is what annoys Daesung the most when their youngest member pulls his usual antics on screen. If Seungri was an attention whore 24/7, then that’s that. It’s not as if they can reprogram his personality. But Seungri only changes in front of the camera, and it’s embarrassing for the rest of Big Bang when he keeps trying to grab for attention.

In a way, it’s selfish. At least, that’s how Daesung would think.

Seunghyun thinks Seungri’s kind of funny. It’s still embarrassing when the kid boasts about himself during their interviews or randomly starts singing for no reason, but he stopped cringing after the fifty or so times it’s happened. He’s gotten used to it. Besides, it’s not like he’s not used to Jiyong singing (or rapping) randomly too. Even Youngbae dances spontaneously when he feels like it.

“Speaking of the maknae, where is he?”

Daesung huffs, but he rarely stays angry and answers easily enough, “He’s picking up some ice cream for Jiyong-hyung. He texted that he wanted some.”

Seunghyun immediately groans, “Great, now we have to deal with a sugar-high G-Dragon tonight. Why didn’t you stop him?”

Daesung slaps both hands down on the sofa and says in mock-outrage, “Hey! You should be grateful I didn’t strangle the brat after he ruined “Always” for me!”

“Strangle who-oh, what did Seungri do now?” Youngbae says when he shuffles in and sees the two of them lounging in the living room.

“Nothing he hasn’t done before.”

“Oh good, I thought he might have stripped on camera or something like that.”

Seunghyun snickers. “Wait for it, it’ll happen one of these days.”

Daesung looks horrified. “Hyung, don’t jinx it!”

“Hey, it’s bound to happen sometime, if you consider the incident with Sean-hyung on Hope TV.” All three of them collectively shudder at the memory of the incident.

“May that never happen again,” Youngbae intones, and they bow their heads for a minute.

When Youngbae’s in the kitchen making the sandwich he had initially come out for, and Daesung and Seunghyun are watching two women jump into a tub of worms on a game show, Daesung realizes who’s missing and asks, “Where’s Jiyong-hyung?”

Seunghyun, fascinated eyes on the screaming worm-covered women, replies mindlessly, “Don’t know,” at the same time Youngbae answers, “Out to get ice cream for his sugar fix.”

Daesung blinks. “Huh. Okay,” and he turns back to the TV to watch the screaming worm-covered women. After he finishes making his sandwich, Youngbae shuffles over to join them.

“…Who knew this game show could be so interesting?”

“Yep.”

Meanwhile, at the corner store…

Seungri turns into the next aisle and promptly runs into another shopper, dropping his basket and drawing the rest of the store’s attention in the process. Face burning, he frantically apologizes and bends down to pick up the dropped pints of ice cream when the shopper full-body hugs him.

“What the-hyung! Let me go!” Seungri tries to squirm away but Jiyong cheerfully hugs him tighter, either not noticing or not caring that they have a small audience.

“What a good maknae! I knew you would get my ice cream for me!”

To his horror, Seungri realizes that Jiyong is wearing a neon pink suit and a green Hello Kitty hat.

From then on, none of the members can visit the corner store near their apartment because fans have targeted it as a Big Bang site. Everyone blames Seungri for this, and Seungri doesn’t talk directly to Jiyong for a week.
