Jungsu stopped before the door to the 11th floor dorm and pressed his ear against the wooden surface, listening carefully. Good. No one seemed to be awake. ...well, it was eight in the morning on a Sunday - after a week of fully packed schedules, why would any of the group be anywhere but sleeping?
"Hyung?"
...right.
Jungsu nearly leapt out of his skin as a surprised voice called behind his back. He spun around, trying to hide the paper bag he was holding behind his back, before looking at the intruder and recognizing it as Siwon. He sighed in relief, and offered the younger man a bright smile.
"Good morning, Siwonnie. Were you working out?"
Siwon nodded and smiled, wiping some sweat off his forehead with a white towel that hung around his neck. "Where were you, hyung? It's so early. I thought you'd be sleeping, with all the stuff you're doing."
Jungsu chuckled, and fished his keys out of his coat's pocket. "I went to sleep early, don't worry about me- "
"Liar, you were still up after me and I went to bed around twelve."
"- okay fine maybe not that early, but earlier than usual. Anyway, I had shopping to do." Jungsu fitted the key into the lock and opened the door, as silently as possible. Siwon arched an eyebrow and was about to answer, but the leader shushed him with one finger. He pointed at the paper bag in his hands, and his hunky dongsaeng froze. "Is that what I think it is?" Siwon whispered, suddenly very, VERY silent.
Jungsu nodded. "Go take a long shower. Very long."
Siwon nodded, and quickly made his way to the bathroom, locking the door behind him. Jungsu chuckled softly to himself, before silently slipping his shoes and coat off. He left the long white scarf on, since it was a little cold in their dorm, and made his way to the kitchen as quietly as he could. He looked at the doors - luckily, all of them were closed. He sighed and continued sneaking his way towards the kitchen.
Once Jungsu reached his destination he placed the bag on the table and headed for the cleaning supplies closet. He opened the door and inspected the insides carefully, before taking out a large spraying bottle. He filled it with ice cold water, and walked to the table. Jungsu climbed on the table, took the paper bag and clutched it to his chest, holding the spraying bottle in his other hand. It was the first of December. In other words, calendar day in the Super Junior dorm - the day when the members got their Christmas calendars. Mostly it resembled a war.
After taking final deep breath and bracing himself for what was to come, he yelled loudly:
"CHRISTMAS CALENDARS!"
It took about five seconds before he heard rustling, clattering, a loud "get the fuck out of my way" and almost at the same exact moment the doors shot open. Jungsu took a fighting stance, ready to face the mob of maniacs running towards him.
Said mob, consisting of ten young men with glints of madness in their eyes, started jumping towards the leader, reaching their eager, grabby hands. A guy with short black hair kicked a tall one with copper brown locks, a smaller male with chubby cheeks tried to push a boy with chocolate brown curls out of his way.
Jungsu defended himself, protecting the bag and spraying the wild beasts with cold water. Someone yelped, someone squeaked, someone screamed "fuck you Jungsu!" - he knew for sure who that was - but he didn't budge.
"Back off! Everybody back the heck off!" Jungsu commanded, continuing his assault of the psychopaths around him with water. It didn't work though - only caused more shouting and screaming, and swearing, and he could swear someone just scratched his ankle. Heechul you bitch. So he decided to go with the tactic he had deemed fine every year before this one: instead of trying to feed the lions from your hand, simply throw the meat to them.
Jungsu pulled the first chocolate calendar out of the bag, cried out "TOM AND JERRY!" and threw it. Immediately he saw Ryeowook and Henry jump to the air, but since the Canadian male was taller he snatched it right before the Korean got his hands on it. Ryeowook wailed in defeat, as the brunet happily skipped to the room he and Mi shared.
Determined, Ryeowook got back into the game, and Jungsu threw the other one. The pink Disney princess calendar flew across the air, and Zhoumi shamelessly used his height to his advantage to snatch it from the air before Heechul could jump. However, he forgot who he was dealing with, and got a sharp kick to his shin. He cried out, giving the ruthless diva just enough time to yank the calendar from his hands and run to his own room, locking the door behind him.
Zhoumi pouted and got back to the fight. A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles calendar was the next one to be thrown, and no one really noticed when a black lightning shot up from between Henry and Shindong. He got the calendar and bolted to the nearest room, which happened to be Sungmin and Kyuhyun's.
Everyone went silent. "Was that Jongwoon-hyung?" Sungmin asked. Shindong shook his head. "I swear, hyung is a ninja." "I'm never getting used to that" Zhoumi muttered, before all of them simply shrugged in unison and set their glowing eyes back on Jungsu. The leader sighed. Seven to go.
A Tangled calendar was the next one to fly across the air, and Ryeowook let out a wild war cry as he took leverage from the table and shot up, grabbing the object at the exact second moment another pair of hands attached themselves to it. Ryeowook shot Shindong the deadliest glare he could muster - which really wasn't that deadly -, tugging forcefully, making the older male sigh and let go (mostly because he just really was a good hyung and a nice person), turning back to the table. Content, Ryeowook ran to his and Jongwoon's room.
A calendar with pictures of bunnies on it was thrown to the beasts, and everyone backed off - no one dared to even try touch the thing. Happily, Sungmin caught it, saluted in thanks and skipped to his room, hugging the thing against his chest. Everyone shot a glance after the vocalist. Really, none of them wanted to fight over the bunny calendar with Sungmin, not after Christmas 2007... Donghae had ended up with a hole cut to one sock of his every single pair, and the pouty-lipped male hadn't stopped glaring at him until Youngwoon had bought him a small bunny plushie as a "reward for working hard". Jungsu could never thank Youngwoon enough. Neither could Donghae's wardrobe.
A Star Wars calendar was thrown to the crazed wild beasts, and even though Hyukjae jumped as high as he could and caught the thing, he was pretty quick to give it to the glaring maknae. After all, he really didn't want to end up with holes in all his pants... If Sungmin cut all Donghae's socks, he didn't want to imagine what the evil gamer was capable of doing to his wardrobe. Or his precious beanies. No way. One calendar wasn't worth it. Not Star Wars, at least...
Kyuhyun walked away, and Hyukjae was back in the fight. Donghae leaped into the air and caught his Finding Nemo calendar, screaming in joy and practically dancing out of the room. That left Zhoumi, Hyukjae and Shindong desperately eyeing the bag - and that was right when the door bell rang.
"Siwon, get the door!" Jungsu shouted, desperation evident in his voice, and sprayed some water on Hyukjae's face, making the rapper squeal in surprise. Luckily, in less than ten seconds they heard the door opening, and muffled voices of greeting. Jungsu smiled. He knew for sure who it was.
"Welcome home, Kibummie!" the leader greeted cheerfully, randomly spraying some water to directions he didn't look at as he felt a hand tug on his pant leg. Zhoumi whined.
Kibum laughed as he entered the kitchen, Siwon's arm wrapped tightly around his waist. They hadn't seen in a long time, and Jungsu smiled as he looked at how comfortable the friends seemed to be together. "It's nice to see you, hyungs" Kibum greeted, flashing a smile that seemed to lighten up the whole room.
"I'll greet you in a moment, Kibummie" Shindong declared, crouched and eyes fixated on the paper bag. "I have a war to win at the moment." Kibum chuckled, and let Siwon guide him to the fridge, silently asking him if he wanted anything - coffee, strawberry milk, tea, perhaps. Jungsu sighed. It felt good, having Kibum home.
However, he had more important matters to deal with now. He pulled a calendar out - one with Marie the kitten from Aristocats - and Zhoumi discreetly simply pushed Hyukjae out of his way as he jumped to snatch the calendar straight from the leader's hands.
"Zhoumi!" Jungsu scolded, but the Chinese male simply smiled brightly and walked out of the room, content now that he had his diva kitten. Jungsu sighed and shook his head. Divas... He pulled out another one, with Pokémons on it, and threw it to the remaining two. The dancers caught the calendar at the same time, tugging and pulling for a few seconds before Shindong simply used his weight to outmatch Hyukjae, yanking hard and sending the younger one stumbling to the ground.
For a second, Shindong looked worried - but this was war, so Hyukjae couldn't really blame him. "Sorry, Hyukkie" he apologized, before quickly fleeting to his room. Jungsu sighed, and relaxed, turning to Siwon and Kibum. The two black-haired males smiled at him, and Siwon walked to grab him by the waist and raise him down. Jungsu yelped, making Kibum laugh.
"Siwon, you shouldn't do stuff like that" the leader scolded, simply getting a shrug and a happy smile as a response. He shook his head again, and smiled, pulling out the remaining two calendars. "Here, these are for you." Siwon took his and thanked Jungsu, laughing as he saw it had the Twilight star Robert Pattinson on it. Kibum stared at his own, then hugged his hyung - the calendar had an old picture of Super Junior on it, one with all thirteen of them. "Thank you, Teukie hyung" he muttered, truly touched. Jungsu smiled, hugging his dongsaeng. "It's good to have you home."
"Hyung?" a voice asked from behind them, and Jungsu turned around, to look at a short-haired brunet sitting on the floor, looking at him with big brown eyes. The leader smiled at his dongsaeng - then felt his heart sink as he realized something.
The paper bag was empty.
"Oh no" Jungsu muttered, letting it drop to the floor as he covered his mouth with his hands. Hyukjae followed the bag fluttering to the floor, and Jungsu could see the way his eyebrows first furrowed, then raised as he understand. "Oh no. Hyukjae, I'm sorry, I was sure there were thirteen of them - I'm going back to the store to get you one - "
"It's okay, hyung" Hyukjae smiled as he got up from the floor, smiling weakly. Jungsu knew how big of a thing it was for the rapper, getting a Christmas calendar, being able to count days till Christmas, till the day he loved the most. "You don't need to. I need to watch my shape anyway." And so he turned around, quickly making his way towards his own room.
His heart had sunk with the empty paper bag. He wasn't mad at Jungsu for forgetting to buy enough calendars - after all, there were thirteen little kids to take care of. But he really, really wanted a calendar, and he couldn't bother his hyung any more - he knew the leader always got up before seven o'clock to drive to a special store to get their calendars. Even though it was Sunday.
Hyukjae slipped into his room, and sighed, before plopping down to sit on his bed. He really wanted a calendar, though. Really...
After some time - ten minutes? Fifteen? Hyukjae didn't know - there was a knock, but whoever knocked didn't wait for him to answer before entering and closing the door behind him. Hyukjae looked at the person standing in front of his door, looking nervous and clutching something to his chest. "Hae? What are you doing here?"
Donghae walked to Hyukjae and sat on the floor in front of him, still holding the thing against his chest. The rapper recognized it as the Finding Nemo christmas calendar. "I um... I heard hyungs panicking about the calendars..." Donghae muttered, looking at the floor, clearly fighting with himself about something. Hyukjae knew him well enough to notice stuff like that.
"What is it, Hae? What's wrong?" he reached his hand, gently grabbing one of Donghae's. "I, I, um..." Donghae took a deep breath.
"I was wondering if you wanted to share mine. A- although I... I already ate the chocolates from days one to fifteen... But we can share the rest!"
Hyukjae's eyebrows shot to his hairline as the dark-haired singer pushed the calendar to him, biting his lip. This was hard for him, it was obvious. And Hyukjae knew how much the other loved Finding Nemo, and that the calendar day was at least as important to him as it was to the older.
"Hae, you don't need to- "
"I want to!" Donghae almost yelled, and Hyukjae flinched. Had he done something? Why did Hae seem so... Nervous? Frustrated? ...scared?
"Hyukjae, I..." He took a deep breath. "I love you. So I want to share my Christmas calendar with you."
Hyukjae smiled. "I love you too, Donghae." Donghae frowned.
"No, I don't... I, I'm in love with you, Hyukjae." His eyes were big, brown and scared, and Hyukjae swore his heart stopped beating. His blood stopped in his veins. His brain stopped functioning.
And suddenly, it all rushed back.
The waves of emotions were nearly too much for him, as he leaped from the bed to Donghae, wrapping his arms around the younger male's neck. Donghae yelped as he was tackled to the ground.
"Hy- Hyukj- "
"Shut up, you fool of a fish" Hyukjae muttered into his neck, tears of joy pricking the corners of his eyes, his smile wide as he pulled up and got off of Donghae. The lighter brunet ended up sitting between the darker-haired male's legs, and he fixed his own legs to be draped over the younger singer's thighs, so they both sat between each other's thighs, facing each other.
Hyukjae took one of Donghae's hands, looking down at it, a blush dancing on his cheeks as he played with his best friend's fingers. "I love you too, Donghae" he muttered, and glanced upwards. Donghae looked like he was about to cry, his eyes watering as a smile so wide his cheeks hurt spread on his face.
Donghae wrapped his arms around Hyukjae's waist, pulling him closer, hugging him tightly. Hyukjae laughed softly, wrapping his own arms around Donghae's neck. The two of them stayed like that, simply smiling and breathing, enjoying each other's heartbeats.
Suddenly Donghae pulled away, making Hyukjae frown. The younger dancer bit his lip, like he was thinking about something, before opening his mouth: "...can I kiss you?"
Hyukjae's heart skipped a beat.
Or two.
Or three.
He could only nod shyly in response, and Donghae smiled, slowly leaning forward. His arms were still wrapped loosely around Hyukjae's waist, and he gently pulled the short-haired brunet against himself as their lips touched. The kiss was soft, gentle - their lips simply moving against each other, pressing and experimenting. Hyukjae's hands cupped Donghae's face as the younger male pressed a little more forcefully, smiling when the action got a small gasp from the toned dancer.
It was then when the door flew open.
"Hyukjae, I- "
Donghae and Hyukjae froze, their heads turning to look at their leader that had burst in to the room, with something in his hands. Jungsu stared, wide-eyed, and both of the dancers could feel their eyes water as they grasped each other's clothes tightly. The shock in Jungsu's eyes was evident. He was going to hate them. Their Teukie-hyung was going to hate them, and despise them, and he was going to think they were revolting, and they could never be together, and-
Jungsu walked to the two, and dropped to his knees. He wrapped his arms around the two, pulling them against himself, a wide smile on his face. Hyukjae glanced at Donghae, confused. He saw a single tear falling from Donghae's widened eyes. Jungsu wasn't going to hate them...?
"Hyung...?" Hyukjae started, and swallowed. "Don't you... Aren't you shocked?"
Jungsu simply chuckled. "You really thought I would hate you? Donghae, Hyukkie? You really thought I would hate you for loving each other?"
The dongsaengs glanced at each other, and smiled. No. No, they didn't. Not really.
"I'm sorry for earlier." Jungsu pushed a calendar to lay on Hyukjae's lap, and the rapper had to prevent himself from squealing in joy as he looked down at the chocolate calendar with a picture of himself and Donghae wearing bright-coloured suits and sunglasses. "I had dropped it to the store."
Both Hyukjae and Donghae wrapped an arm around their hyung. "Thank you hyung" Hyukjae whispered, so full of love towards the two men in his arms he was sure he would burst.
This was the best calendar day ever.
