You Go, Girl!

I really hope Ms. Fluke works in the public sector when she graduates.  She is well spoken, thoughtful and moral and would be a great resourse to the underprivilaged.

The really sad thing is that both sides - Democratic supporters and Republic supporters - are guilty of the same crime. Bill Maher (a ruthless Democrat) has said vile things about Republican women. Obviously Rush Limbaugh and others on the Republican side say vile things about Democratic women. I'm beginning to think that nobody in politics knows how to keep a civil tongue in their heads anymore. It's really sad, and very, very disenchanting.

I don't care who's doing the bullying and for what reason...it's just not right.

I knew about Limbaugh and am not surprised. People like that and Howard Stern make money by being hateful and scandalous. I disagree with that, as is my right, but I'm not going to stoop to their level and start a hate campaign against them because I believe in holding the moral high ground.

What got me in particular was the relentless bullying via Twitter that Patricia Heaton embarked upon. Not just one tweet stating that she disagreed, but a RELENTLESS series of messages insulting Ms. Fluke in any way she could think of. Totally uncalled for. There are a lot of celebrities that use their fame for charity and good causes. It's sad to see the other side of things.

The thing that really bugs me about all this is that she is trying to force a Catholic university to put aside its beliefs so she can have her birth control paid for. If she wants that, she shouldn't be at a Catholic school. Simple as that. She has a right to her opinion, and the university has a right to stand by its beliefs and not cover birth control. She is being a bit of a hypocrite. That said, as long as viagra is covered by health insurance, birth control should be too, but an organization shouldn't be forced to cover it if it goes against its basic tenets.

And like irish_horse said, if Limbaugh has to apologize for calling her a slut, then that idiot Bill Maher needs to apologize for using the c word when referring to conservative women. Fair's fair.

Birth control medications are used for things other than birth control. I know people who use them for that purpose. They should cover its use for medical reasons, as she stated in the article. There are many medications that, when taken, can harm or kill an unborn child. Will they refuse to cover those as well? Just because there's one common use for a drug doesn't mean that there aren't other medically appropriate uses ( ... )
