I understand where your coming from....I have no idea who I want to vite for because whoever I vote for won't do any good because it's either we know they wont win (NDP)...they are crooks (Liberals)...or they will take away funding from education, take away same sex marriages and go into the american health care syustem (Conservatives)....

So either way...

My dad wants me to vote conservative...he says if I want to live in his house I must vote conservative.

I'll be voting Liberal....

Yeah... I like what Elena said though, about even if a party doesn't win, it doesn't mean it won't have any influence. And you have a right to vote for whoever you want. Tell him if he votes conservative, you'll be turning tricks on Gladstone for a living b/c the conservatives will increase tuition costs...

As if tuition wasn't expensive enough!!! Why the hell would he be increasing them?!?

Yay politics!
voting for the party you care most about is worth more than most people think. as Jack Layton has been repeating through the etire campaign, "a vote for the NDP is a vote for more NDP MPs in Parliament." It's true! parties don't have to win the election in order to have power.
also, each vote is worth $1.75 in campaign subsidy money. that means the more votes the NDP, Green, or fringe parties receive, the more campaign money they will get from the government during the next election.

one more thing: My dad wants me to vote conservative...he says if I want to live in his house I must vote conservative.
this is not okay. you are a citizen with full rights, regardless of where you live or whether or not you depend on family for support. plus, how will a family member ever know who you vote for?

*climbs down off soapbox*

So each vote gets $1.75 for the party? Where does the money come from? I suppose I wasn't thinking that if a party doesn't win, it doesn't mean it doesn't have ANY power... That's interesting to know... Thanks:).

yup, $1.75. the money is from government subsidies, meaning election campaigns are something they've deemed important enough [and rightly so] to help fund with taxpayers' money. rock!

It's pretty sad that the only female PM Canada has ever had was Kim Campbell- especially since she did such a terrible job. Belinda Stronach seems like a possible eventual PM candidate, but jumping ship hasn't exactly made her look very reliable.

I think I'm also voting for the NDP, just because any extra support to lower tuition fees is great by me.

It shouldnt be about voting for who you think is gunna win. Most people jump on the banwagon which is why Harper has so much support. People hear he is climbing in the polls so they choose to vote for him. It shouldnt be that way, you shold vote for the person that you think has the best platform regardless of there popularity ( ... )

Hm, true... I think... Although I didn't know any of that about the Green Party, so thanks:). I guess I just figure that although I think it's good to vote for who you think is best, I really don't want the conservatives to win...
