Eridan's Relationships!

Karkat Vantas

To say how Eridan feels about Karkat is simple and clear cut would be the biggest lie in all of paradox space. While Karkat is undoubtedly his moirail, his feelings definitely run deeper than that, or at least, ruddier. Karkat and Eridan have been friends since their time on Alternia, and sure maybe it wasn't the bromance of a friendship that the Cancer shared with a certain detestable Gemini, it was still, without a doubt, a friendship. Karkat being one of the few that the seatroll went to for help, mainly for romance advice, but they did have their share of secret shipping and gossiping. Though, all of this was before the time in Vatheon, which has merely amplified anything that they had before. Coming to the underwater bubble city, Eridan brought with him his already flushed feelings for Karkat--one could argue that the seatroll had an abundance of flushed feelings for a lot of trolls, but these feelings were a tad more... Genuine.

With Karkat taking him in as his moirail (After some convincing) his feelings for the nubby-horned troll merely intensified, which has also made things difficult. Having Karkat look out for him, despite the roughness that is necessary in doing so, it's made the seaprince that much more fond. Though, that is where the complications come in. History is repeating itself in a sense, caught in a pale relationship with someone he is conclusively flushed for. This had happened before with his exmoirail, which ended in them splitting up. Something that Eridan does not want to go through again. So much like before, the seatroll is keeping a lid on these feelings, trying to actually be a good moirail, trying to improve himself, trying to not disappoint Karkat. So far? He's sucked at it. Which has caused some rockiness with their relationship, but if he wasn't taking this as serious before, he definitely is now. Which, has the seatroll confused in some ways, because while he is certain his feelings are as ruddy as Terezi's favorite pieces of chalk, there is some swell of pale feelings that emerge more often than not. It's conflicting at times, in certain moments where they seem to be the palest of pals, Eridan is content. Happy even. Isn't pining to change the status of their relationship at all--but then when certain moments occur, his flushed feelings become most apparent and he longs for a more flushed sort of relationship with Kar than the 'shitty' pale one he's saddled with.

He just honest to god cares about Karkat, and really just wants to make him happy. Wants to be the one to do it, but with all his failures and all the stress he slings onto the Cancer, he's starting to really write himself off as a worthless moirail that isn't even worthy of Karkat's time or efforts. Despite these self depricating views, he's still standing as strongly as he can, trying to amend the mistakes he's made before and after showing up to Vatheon.

Right now? Karkat is probably the most important person to Eridan, he's his pillar of emotional strength and he'd be utterly lost without him.

John Egbert

When Eridan first arrived in Vatheon he hadn't thought much of John, thought he was some random human who was way too nice for his own good. He hadn't paid much attention to him like he did the two girls back when he was in the veil, so when he spoke to him, he hardly recognized him at first, not that when he actually realized John was one of the kids they were trolling, it made any difference at all. But soon that awkward niceness turned Eridan's unsure opinion on the derpy boy into something much more red, of course with the aid of some misinformation(Like how he thinks John is a prince thanks to a certain purple prose writing witch). His fondness merely keeps growing with each time he sees the human, because in Eridan's eyes there isn't anyone who can match John's kindness. And kindness? Yeah, that is definitely a delicacy when it comes to emotions Eridan is used to.

John's basically cemented his place in Eridan's expanding and collapsing bladder based vascular system when he allowed Eridan to share feelings with him . Instead of pushing him away, John was comforting and kind, and it really touched Eridan. John is his bro and his (other)flushcrush, and while he hasn't directly hit on John, or try to make any direct passes at him, that doesn't make that statement any less true. If anything it solidifies his feelings, because much like he had with Fef, he hadn't exactly lead her to believe his feelings were as ruddy as they were, instead he hid them much like he is now.

Eridan still thinks John is too nice for his own good, but not in the same sense as he did before, now he merely is a bit worried about John's naivety with the people he surrounds himself with--like Vriska or Rose. He appreciates John probably more than he does a good majority of the other trolls, even putting John in his own category of human, a category that's like... Above the rest, yep.
