BSG: Final Season (Mild-spoiler alert!)

Okay, so I saw what I can only assume is the final episode of Battlestar Galactica. I haven't heard anyone else comment on it so I thought I would.  I've been trying to give the last season some amount of leeway.  Nevermind that they tied together a million different plots in the space of about ten seconds; I can deal with that. They had a time ( Read more... )

That was the mid-season finale. There are about 10 more episodes left that will air in the "2008-2009 television season", which I think means the fall.

As a mid-season finale I really enjoyed it. I thought Apollo and Xena making peace was a little cheesy, but at the same time they have been more-or-less building up to it the entire series. Other than that, it was good. I particularly like what upset you the most, namely that they elevated the mystery of who's really behind everything to a more prominent place in the show.

Really???
Did I misunderstand what that last scene was about? I figured that they just pulled a "Planet of the Apes" sort of ending and that was that. Nyah nyah. It was all a waste of time anyway. How's THAT for a plot twist?

If there's more to come I may have to re-evaluate.

Huh.

I actually found the Cylon civil war to be really interesting. I didn't even mind the forced peace, though as I mentioned it was a little rushed.

If Earth was the perfect utopia that it's been made out to be during the whole series, finding it would be boring. They may have gone a little far, but it's much more interesting than Earth being perfect. I mean, I really want to know what the fuck pointed them to Earth. I also want to know what the other half of the Cylons are going to do.

Well, the thing is that Earth was never made out to be a Utopia. Adama pulled it out of his ass originally, and then when stuff started to actually lead them there, they went with it because they had nowhere else to go. I don't think anyone actually stopped to think what earth woud be like, or what they would do when they got there. It was the destinaton because the other option was to die.

So, in light of that, I think it was a good ending. They get there and find out that maybe all this divine guidance wasn't so infallible after all.
