It's affirming for sure, but I am still afraid I'm gonna hit a wall and just fuck up terribly. I don't really know why, but I'm just not as confident as I was in undergrad, even though (so far) I'm doing better.

Maybe it's the nervous attitude that's driving extra studying and thus the better grades?

You've never fucked up in your life, so I doubt you'll do it now. You're just brilliant and shouldn't worry about grades. I've always told you it is whether you learn, not what the grade is. You done learnt it good, boy! Have I ever told you how proud I am of your achievements? I am!

Way to kick A$$!!!
P.S. I agree with you on the holidays. Halloween is very contrived, and I like Winter and pretty colors.

I think well-done Halloween is pretty awesome, but paper decorations and other "happy" things rather than spooky shit is kind of lame.

Fall Harvest motifs are pretty cool, I think, but I don't really like the holidays so much.

Oh, no, that was more of an indignant "not a damned thing" than a sad one. The graduate student association is having a little party that I'm going to for free drinks and food, but I really just otherwise feel like staying in and cleaning up my room, organizing my notes, and finishing some homework.

Does this mean I'm getting old?

No, getting old would be living in an apartment by yourself and not having the energy to unpack all these boxes and boxes and boxes.

We had snow on Saturday and then it was about 70 today. I prefer the 70, but I like the colorful leaves. I only like Christmas because you were the best December present ever, ever, ever and I can't wait to see you next month!

I love California, but I wish it was closer to home. I'd be nice being able to come visit more than just during winter break...

Congratulations! Seriously, I wish I could ace midterms. That's darn hard.
