Quantum Honeybees

This is the kind of article I like to read:
Quantum honeybees - research on honeybee behavior
A mathematician at the U of R couldn't help but notice that you can explain the waggle dance (and the round dance) with a 6-dimensional flag manifold. Does this imply that bees can "see quarks"?

Good article! I love it when speculative physics intersects with speculative biology (such a rare convergence). However, her evidence is scant and the article dates from 1997. I did a google search on the researcher and honey bees, but haven't uncovered anything more recent. I would be curious to know if any more advances have been made with this theory.
