You sound like how I felt when I got into this EMS stuff. I was sooo nervous about my first IV attempt. And my second... and my third...

Now, I honestly don't remember my first IV. *blinks* Although I remember random others.

It's still fun to do. And everyone misses sometimes, so you just kinda go in expecting to get it done, and then just get mildly annoyed when it doesn't work.
