I just took a trip to the county recorder's office to get a certified copy of my marriage certificate.

Recorder lady: "Want to know the bad news?"
Me: "What???!!"
Recorder lady: "Jackson County has no record of you being married."

I filed some documents I didn't know had to be filed and now we are recognized as being married.

That would be an interesting ending. Maybe Milly could end up having an illicit romance with the orangutan resulting in a cross species love triangle.

I am blaming it on the fact that the ceremony was, literally, 20 minutes before the judge was supposed to leave for a cruise. I am pretty sure the marriage applies retroactively, though. The date they put on the record is November 23rd. The marriage occurred, there just wasn't an official record of it.
