Last night I watched the second DVD of season one which contained the following episodes: Bloody Mary, Skin, Hook Man and Bugs. I was scared and creeped out most of the time, but impressed with all of them and my thoughts about the individual episodes are under the cut.
BLOODY MARY - Pretty creepy and very scary. I don't think I'll EVER say ANYTHING in front of a mirror again.
SKIN - VERY scary. Great special effects. Terrific well-choreographed fight scenes. Walking through the sewers was creepy.
BUGS - O..M..G! I spent the rest of the night brushing imaginary bugs off my neck and arms. I'm not a big fan of bugs and this episode really gave me the creeps. I gasped when Dean stuck his hand into all those worms. *shudders* And the spiders! ewww! Great special effects. This was the first time Sam was shown driving the Impala, which belongs to Dean, right? I loved the bit when the developer assumed Sam and Dean were a gay couple and Dean saying to Sam, "OK, honey." The look on Sam's face was priceless.
HOOK MAN - Dean walking alone through a cemetery at night terrified me for some reason. Maybe it's because something bad usually happens in a scene like that. I may think twice about wearing any of my silver jewelry again.
GENERAL THOUGHTS - That Chevy Impala needs a new muffler. All the women who audition for a guest spot must have to show how well they can scream as part of the audition process. I have to give a shout-out to Alexandra Patsavas, the show's music supervisor. She has served in this role for a couple hundred TV shows and movies and her music choices are always spot-on. I love the music she chooses for every episode while the closing credits are playing.
I have four more discs to go in season one. I'll try to watch another one tonight. Who knew being scared could feel this good?
