He wakes up, and is immediately freaked-the-fuck-out.

First of all, he's much larger than he used to be. His body is giant now, and isn't quite sure how he could possibily move all of it at the same time. He's also taking up most of the bed, which is odd, because normally, he easily fits on the pillow. Very slowly, he starts moving this new body and shifts off - what is this? He's heard the name but can't think of it right now - whatever he's lying on, carefully placing what he figures are his hind legs on the floor. He keeps sliding and sliding, until he falls off the bed, slamming into the floor.

The noise causes something on the bed to stir, and feline face peers over the edge at him, looking somewhat confused and blinking a few times before hissing in a strange way, and falling over while trying to stand up.

He scoots over to the bed and looks down at the cat, which now seems to be having a panic attack.

He very quietly says, "Kei-chan?" and the cat turns to him, meowing sadly.

-- -- --

He's back on the bed now, leaning against the headboard while Kei-chan sits at the foot of the bed, glaring, like this whole thing is his fault. But then again, maybe that's just what his face looks like.

He figures that, as the 'human' in this situation, it's sort of up to him to fix whatever happened, but words aren't coming to him easily and he still hasn't gotten the hang of walking on two legs. He doesn't even know how he'd go about fixing this. It's not like he has any one to turn to, and who would believe him? "Hi! I used to be a kitty! But now I'm a person! And a person is a kitty! Help!" It's all very uncomfortable and he feels guilty, because Kei-chan looks very unhappy.

And suddenly, the room fills with the sound of Chirarizumu and Kei-chan jumps up from his spot at the foot of the bed and looks at him very intently.

"Um," he says, and Kei-chan looks from him to the cell phone and back. "O-okay."

He reaches over to the side table and flips open the phone, holding it to his ear like he'd seen Kei-chan do so many times. "... Hello?"

"Is this the cell phone of Koyama Keiichirou?"

"Um, y-yes."

"And who, may I ask, am I speaking to?"

"Um." He swallows and looks at Kei-chan, who seems to be smiling. "Nyanta."

"Ah, I see. So you're in the same situation as we are."

"What?"

"This is Wagahai."

He nearly drops the phone and Kei-chan looks confused, because he didn't hear any of the conversation.

"I seem to be inhabiting Shige's body somehow."

Kei-chan meows, loudly.

"Ah, I can hear Koyama in the background. Very good. It seems neither of you are panicking."

"Um, w-what do we..."

"Do? I have no idea. I'll come over right now." And the line cuts out.

Kei-chan meows again and he sighs.

-- -- --

Half an hour later, he hears the doorbell ring and Koyama's mother making small talk with some one. A second later, a knock on the bedroom door, and Shige's walking in, a surgical mask over his nose and mouth. Except, it's not Shige. Kei-chan meows and looks around the floor, obviously looking for the real Shige. But he's not there.

"There's a slight problem," Wagahai says. "I can't seem to find Shige."

"Eh? What do you mean?" Nyanta whispers.

"Shige is me now. And I'm an imaginary cat."

"Oh."

Kei-chan meows dejectedly and flops down on the bed. Nyanta reaches over and pets his back, trying to console him.

"What do we do?"

"Honestly? I have no idea."

If anything, Kei-chan gets more depressed hearing that.

"First of all, I think we should do everything we can to find Shige."

"How?"

"Shige and I have a way of bumping into each other. It usually happens at the strangest of places. Let's go for a walk."

"... Will that work?"

Wagahai smiles. "You'd be surprised."

-- -- --

And that's how the trio finds themselves walking around a park about half way between Shige and Koyama's homes. Getting dressed was very difficult for Nyanta, but Kei-chan helped him pick out clothes and he's now being carried around in a leather bag, over Nyanta's shoulder.

"I want to be a kitty again," Nyanta says sadly, and Wagahai nods.

"Yes, I understand how you feel. Being a human is all very difficult."

Kei-chan meows, and they both hear, "I don't care. Where is Shige?"

-- -- --

The sun is getting very low in the sky, nearly about to set, and the three of them are still out, trying to find Shige with Wagahai's plan of "we'll just happen to run into him. that's how it works."

Kei-chan grew tired of looking around, having becoming increasingly depressed every time they saw a cat that wasn't Shige. He's curled up now, on the bottom of the bag and Nyanta is holding it very carefully, occasionally peeking inside and saying a few kind words to Kei-chan.

They stop for dinner at a small takoyaki stand and Nyanta digs out the chunk of octopus from several pieces and feeds them to Kei-chan, who sits on the bench next to Nyanta and Wagahai while they eat. Some elementary schoolers think the three of them look very cute and ask if they can pet Kei-chan. Nyanta looks at Kei-chan, at a loss for words, before Kei-chan gives him a very "yes, fine, i suppose it's alright"-sort of look. The kids scratch behind ears and pet his back very gently before walking off.

Kei-chan lies down, only half-listening to Wagahai and Nyanta's conversation about what to do next. At a lazy pace, a grey and black tomcat pads over to the three of them, and Kei-chan thinks it just wants the takoyaki. But it ignores the food and looks at Kei-chan, getting irritated when he does nothing.

"Hey!" It shouts, "Look more excited to see me, you loser!"

Nyanta and Wagahai turn, hearing the hissing, ("Oh, Shige. There you are," Wagahai says, very calmly), and Kei-chan thinks he might cry from joy.

-- -- --

"So that's what Wagahai looks like," Kei-chan whispers, sidling up to Shige, who's now on the bench.

"Do you have to sit so close? Seriously."

"But I've missed you! And I've been so scared all day! I woke up a cat!"

Shige frowns. "I woke up an imaginary cat. Think about how much fun that's been."

Kei-chan does think about it, and decides that Shige's had it much worse, since he's been alone all day.

"Shige's very tough, huh?"

"It's not about being tough at all," he says. "It's a matter of being logical. I assumed that since I'm in Wagahai's body, he must be in mine. And if he was going to call any one about this problem, it would have been you. By some coincidence, the same thing happened to you and Nyanta. So, it was just a matter of time before I ran into you guys."

Kei-chan smiles. "Shige is always very Shige-like."

At that moment, Wagahai and Nyanta stand up, and Nyanta opens up the leather bag. "We're gonna to pray now to get back to normal."

Shige gives Wagahai a very specific stare, and the latter shrugs. "What else is there to do?"

So Kei-chan gets in the bag, but Shige refuses to join him, walking along side them instead.

-- -- --

At the shrine, Nyanta uses Kei-chan's money to buy the best good luck and health charms possible and then prays "super-duper-extra doubly hard" because he wants to be a kitty again, and he thinks Kei-chan likes being a person more too. Wagahai is a bit more reasonable, buying a middle-ground good luck charm, and tying it very loosely around Shige's neck.

"I think you're worse off in this situation," Wagahai says. "So I think you should have this."

Shige meows, saying something like, "But once this is all back to normal, then you'll have it."

Nyanta and Wagahai stand before altar for several minutes, before stepping away and going back to where Shige and Kei-chan waited.

-- -- --

Nyanta and Wagahai both agreed that they should all spend the night together, in case anything else weird happens. Shige has no objections and curls up on a blanket on the floor, near where Wagahai is sleeping, and Kei-chan joins him, again, laying way too close. Shige's about to say something like, "just because we're cats right now doesn't mean you can get away with this." But then Kei-chan shivers a little bit, and Shige figures he should let it slide right now.

-- -- --

At some ungodly hour of the morning, Shige wakes up to quiet screaming and something hitting him over and over. Aimlessly, he kicks out at whatever's attacking him and tries to go back to sleep.

"Shige! Shige! Wake up!!"

Shige groans and is about to tell Koyama to shut the hell up already when he realizes that he feels very not imaginary. He rolls over and comes face to face with Wagahai - cat-Wagahai - who looks very pleased with himself.

"Hello, Shige."

Shige lifts up his hand, which is a hand, and then turns to where Koyama's voice is coming from, seeing him, dressed in sweatpants and a t-shirt, cradling Nyanta to his chest and petting him. Nyanta meows and bumps his head against Koyama's chin.

Shige smiles and turns to Wagahai. "So, what did you do to cause all of that?"

"What makes you think it was me? Perhaps Nyanta desacrated the body of a dead fish, or something."

"Wagahai."

"Alright. So maybe there was a little curse from Egypt following me around and it finally did something. It was one day, Shige. Geez. Get over it."

Shige's about to retort when he starts sneezing violently.

Wagahai just laughs.
