TITLE: 4 Times Shige Hated Ryo and 1 Time He Thought He Could Love Him
PROMPT: 42
NOTES: Whore!verse.
1. The First Time Ryo Made Shige Cry
They're sitting in his kitchen, Ryo rubbing his arms, talking softly, trying to make him stop crying. But Shige just keeps pressing his hands into his eyes and taking deep breaths, even though they're not doing anything to help.
Ryo asks him - asks him why he's selling himself for money - and it almost makes Shige start crying hard again. He's asked himself this question so many times now, and half the time, even he isn't able to answer it.
He says something in reply to Ryo, but the words just fall out of his mouth, and he doesn't really know what he's saying. His brain isn't working, it's processing nothing, but his mouth is making words, and Shige isn't sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
The one thing he is sure about, is that he doesn't like fellow much at all.
2. The Day Ryo Dragged Shige Around Tokyo
Shige can count on one hand the number of times he's been in Ginza, and it's four. Three of those times, he was just changing trains, but in an effort to seem to be more than what he is, he generally doesn't tell other people that. The only time he's actually been outside of Ginza station was with Ryo. When Shige looks back on that day, he always smiles a little bit, cause it was the day that Ryo first expressed his feelings in any way (and Shige got a cell phone out of it). But at the time, Shige wasn't so fond of the moment.
Ryo's sipping a Cafe Au Lait, while Shige sits across from him, some what awkwardly looking around. In his own opinion, Shige finds this entire day to be completely wasted. He could have been study, or finally cleaned his bathroom liked he'd been wanting to, or done his laundry. But instead he's in Ginza, getting dragged around, feeling like the poor kid he is.
Ryo snorts - at a message on his phone - and starts furiously typing an answer.
Shige frowns and debates throwing a napkin at his face.
3. That Time When Shige Had a Test and Ryo was an Asshole
He's in the middle of studying criminal law scenarios when his phone starts to go off, Ryo's name flashing on the screen. Shige debates picking it up at all, but he a figures he's earned a short break.
The demanding tone from Ryo is out of character and angry-sounding, and Shige's actually a little worried about what might happen if he doesn't go over to Ryo's place. So he hops on the train and makes his way there, only to get yelled at, and then groped by Ryo.
But now, Shige's sitting on the couch, shirt tied around his arms, Ryo's sulking in the bedroom with the door closed. Shige frowns, trying to ease the shirt off without destroying it, trying to figure out how any of this is his fault.
4. The Time Shige cleaned and Ryo Made a Mess
Shige's standing in the genkan, looking at the pile of shoes strewn about, not even slightly in order. He steps up into the apartment and looks into the kitchen. The counter is covered with plastic bags and he can see that the garbage can is almost overflowing. There's a pile of dirty pans and dishes in the sink. He walks further in, and the magazines, sheet music and books that had been carefully organized and put away are all over the floor, couch and on top of the TV. Shige takes a deep breath and looks into the bedroom. The blankets are on the floor, there are clothes falling out of the closet, a mug half-filled with coffee on the side table.
Shige's bag slips from his hands and he can't help but yell, "I just cleaned yesterday!"
1. The Time When Shige Remembered Why He Always Puts Up With Ryo's Stupid Shit
Shige has spent five hours - 8am to 11:30am, and then 12:30pm to 2:30pm - in the same room in a renovated conference room of the Tokyo Municipal Courthouse. Five hours of the Bar Exam, nervously writing, knowing he's right, but still second-guessing his own answers. The girl in front of him keeps taping her pencil and it's distracting. The air conditioner is on too high and he's cold, even though it's April and he was too warm outside in his suit. Every half hour the proctor calls out the time left and it only makes Shige feel even more like this is impossible. That's there's no way he's going to pass this exam.
When it's all done, he sits in a hallway, resting for a while, getting his bearings, contemplating his future. He starts walking, and ends up at Ryo's apartment, pulling out his key. He only finds the energy to change out of his suit because he knows how wrinkled it will get if he doesn't put it away properly. He zones out on the couch, watching quiz shows, correcting all the contestants. At 6pm, he's hungry, but some how doesn't have the will to get up and eat anything.
At 8pm, the door opens and Ryo comes running into the living room.
"Why haven't you responded to any of my mails?! How'd it go?"
Shige looks up, lethargically, and points towards the genkan. "My phone is in my bag."
Ryo blinks. "And that's why you didn't reply?"
"My brain hurts."
Ryo laughs, hard, and goes into the kitchen. He comes out with a beer and a glass of cold tea. He takes a swig of the beer and hands the tea to Shige, who holds it in his lap and takes small sips every one a while.
Ryo puts his feet up on the coffee table and smiles. "You definitely passed. Definitely."
Shige closes his eyes, sighs, and leans his head against Ryo's shoulder. "Thank you."
TITLE: 4 Times RyoShige Tried to Hint to the Members of Their Relationship and 1 Time They Succeeded
PROMPT: 44
"I don't like lying to them all the time."
"You're like a girl," Ryo says, his voice fuzzy over the phone line.
Shige frowns. "So you like lying to our friends?"
"You realize how much shit this could potentially make?"
"Ryo."
"Fine, we'll tell them."
"Um." Shige swallows. "We don't need to specifically say anything. As long as they get the picture it'll be enough."
Ryo sighs, sounding irritated. "So, you want to tell them, but not explicitly."
"Yes."
"You're making this more troublesome than the four of them are worth."
1.
The six of them are gathered for a magazine interview, sitting around a table, snacking on rice crackers, Koyama on tea-refill patrol, when they're asked to talk about something they've each realized lately.
"Ryo-chan and Shige still argue a lot, but it's much more friendly than it used to be!" Koyama happily says while refilling Massu's cup.
Ryo turns very specifically towards Shige. "It has gotten a lot friendlier, hasn't it, Shige?"
Shige's mouth is agape, rice cracker in hand, halfway there. "Uh..."
"I've realized," Ryo begins, "that Shige is very good with his hands."
Shige drops the rice cracker and pales just a tiny bit.
"You've started bringing your guitar into work more often nowadays, right?" Ryo continues. "The two of us play songs together sometimes when there's time. It's a lot of fun. Shige, keep playing with me, okay?"
Koyama squeals in the background while Shige gives Ryo a death-glare.
2.
They're standing in the back of the elevator together, a few juniors standing near the door, talking about dance practice.
"I should kill you for that interview the other day."
Ryo elbows Shige in the ribs. "At least I'm trying. This was all your idea."
The elevator stops, and the juniors get off.
"Don't do stuff like that during an interview. It's dangerous."
Ryo snorts, and the elevator beeps, stopping at their floor. "Fine. I won't say anything when there are other parties around."
He grabs Shige hand and drags him out of the elevator, all the way down the hall to NEWS's room. He stops just inside of the room, Shige still lingering slightly in the door way.
"Good morning."
Koyama turns, and smiles. "Good morning! Would you like tea?"
"Yes, we would."
Ryo continues into the room, specifically walking past Masuda - the one of them mostly likely to point out something obvious like Ryo and Shige holding hands - and throws his bag onto the couch where Yamapi is napping.
"Pi."
He turns his head, looking up at Ryo, blinking.
"You look like you want to say something."
Yamapi keeps blinking, and even looks at Koyama for some kind of answer, but Koyama doesn't know what's going on either.
"Um," Pi begins, "don't you usually bother Shige first thing in the morning?"
"I did that in the elevator." And Ryo tugs Shige closer, so it's even more obvious that they're still holding hands.
Yamapi blinks some more, and then leans back on the couch, closing his eyes. Ryo nearly screams, and stomps out of the room, still dragging Shige along with him.
Masuda finally looks up from his cell phone and smiles. "I'm happy that they're getting along better now."
Tegoshi smiles too. "It's nice, isn't it?"
3.
There's a big typhoon out in the Pacific Ocean while NEWS is up in the mountains for a photoshoot. It's not supposed to make landfall at all, so the photographer takes his him with the shots, and when he's done, NEWS decides to hang around the little town they're in, before heading back to Tokyo. But the typhoon suddenly shifts course and the highway between the town and Tokyo gets closed. There's no way else to get home, so they find a small hotel, which, by some act of a Higher Power, has three open rooms. They're all about to split up into their normal pairs - Koyama and Shige, Tegoshi and Masuda, Ryo and Yamapi - when Ryo speaks up.
"I think this time, I'd like to room with Shige."
Silence.
"But." Koyama looks around awkwardly. "You always room with Yamapi. Or Tegoshi."
"Which is exactly the reason why I want to room with Shige." Ryo tugs him closer. "We never do."
"Good thinking, Ryo-chan!" Yamapi shouts, and then gathers them all into a circle in the hotel lobby. "We're stuck up in the mountains, so let's use this time to strength our individual bonds!"
There's a cry of "Yeah!" from Koyama, Tegoshi and Masuda, a weaker sound of agreement from Shige, and Ryo just smirks.
"We all get along great, but we still have a tendency to break up into our old pairs, so let's mix it up tonight!"
Koyama and Tegoshi enthusiastically hug, while Yamapi and Masuda clap hands together, all four chattering away. Ryo and Shige don't say anything, and no one comments on Ryo's hands placed very specifically on Shige's hip.
--
Shige gulps and looks up at Ryo. "I don't think this is what Yamapi meant by 'strengthening our bonds'."
"What would you know." Ryo says as he leans over Shige on the bed. "You're not a mind reader."
4.
Shige's apartment is in Shin-Okubo, a little residential stop a few stations away from Ikebukuro. Ryo's in East Ginza. So when he's out partying with some indie-band friends late one weekday night in Ikebukuro and misses his last train, he drunkenly opts for the cheaper taxi ride to Shin-Okubo, and loudly knocks on Shige's door at 2 in the morning and sleeps at his place (but most definitely not on the couch).
In the morning, Ryo refuses to wear his clothes from last night, since they're gross and smell like stale beer. He borrows some of Shige's and they arrive at work together. When they enter the dressing room, Ryo makes a beeline for the couch and falls onto it.
Tegoshi laughs. "Ryo-chan looks tired today."
He grumbles into the couch.
"You won't believe what this guy had the nerve to do last night." Shige sets his bag down on the counter and takes off his jacket. "He was out drinking last night and instead of going home, shows up - drunk - on my doorstep at 2am."
Ryo grumbles again.
"And then in the morning, he raided my closet for clothes!"
"I was wondering why that shirt looked so familar...," Koyama says.
Ryo sits up slightly. "And I'm in Shige's pants too."
There's a strange silence for few seconds before Tegoshi laughs again. "That's funny, Ryo-chan! Since you're wearing Shige's pants too."
Ryo swears and presses his face back into the couch.
1.
Ryo and Shige are standing in the bathroom, looking very intensely at each other.
"I can't take it any more. They're all idiots."
"Maybe." Shige looks around, like there's something that will help him. "Maybe we should stop for now. Stop trying to tell them."
"You're so unenthusiastic about your own idea."
"It's just not working out right now!"
"Because we're not being painfully obvious about it! If I bent you over a table, then they'd get it."
Shige has a small coughing fit before answering, "That will not help with the overall discreetness we both agreed to."
Ryo growls and leaves the bathroom. Shige takes his sweet time going back to the dressing room, and when he enters, Ryo doesn't even look up from his magazine. The days goes on as normally as it can - schedules of appearances for the next week, voice lessons, dance practice.
In the room outside of the showers, they're all getting dressed and talking. Tegoshi's trying to convince Yamapi to take him out for dinner, Masuda wants to go shopping. Suddenly, Koyama squeaks a little and points at Shige.
"What is that!?"
Yamapi, Tegoshi and Masuda all stop in the middle of their talking and stare at Shige. There is silence in the room, and the only person still moving is Ryo.
"W-what?"
"Um, Shige." Yamapi coughs awkwardly. "Why do you have that written there?"
Shige blinks. "Have what written where?"
No one answers, so Shige walks, albeit slowly, to the mirror on the one side and turns so he can see whatever is on his backside.
"What the hell!?" Shige can see Ryo smile in the mirror. "'Property of Nishikido Ryo'!? What's wrong with you?!"
"I'm just making sure every one understands, since the other messages didn't get across."
Shige blanches and nearly faints, while Koyama, Yamapi, Tegoshi and Masuda all gather up their things as fast as they can.
