TITLE: Misplaced Goods
PAIRING: RyoShige
SUMMARY: He was rushed and it was an accident. Seriously.
Shige's running late for class and on his way out, he accidentally grabs Ryo's phone instead of his own. Granted, they're basically the same shape and he's tired, so it's an easy mistake to make.
However, he doesn't realize it until he gets a very angry phone call from Ryo's manager while he's on the train. The other passengers glare at Shige as he quietly gives the manager his own cell phone number, in case Ryo is still in the apartment.
Once he's out of the train, Shige steps off into a little nook of the train station and calls his own phone, inputing the number by hand instead of looking through the phone book. Ryo, of course, doesn't pick up, so he leaves a message.
"I'm sorry, but I took your phone by mistake this morning. I'm really sorry. Your manager called a little bit ago. He was pissed, and I gave him my cell number to reach you.... I wonder if you even have my phone with you right now?.... Anyways, I get out of class at 12:30, so... so if you really need or want your phone back, leave a message and I can meet up with you some where... Sorry again. Bye."
And then Shige goes to class.
When he gets out, there aren't any messages or missed calls, so he figures that Ryo is just living without a cell phone for the day. He's just about to walk through the turn-stiles in the station when he gets a call from Ryo's phone. He steps out of the way, moves so that he's leaning against the wall, and pulls the phone out of his bag. He's about to flip it open, when he sees what's on the LCD screen: Shige ♥.
He ends up staring for so long, that the call goes to voicemail.
Shige waits a minute - in case Ryo is leaving a message - and then calls his own phone. Ryo immediately picks up.
"Why didn't you answer?"
"Um." Shige's thinking about the heart-mark. "It was at the bottom of my bag. I couldn't get to it in time."
"Oh, well. Can you bring me my phone? It's been kind of inconvenient not having it. You only have my number and your parent's and Tegoshi's! It's weird, Shige."
"Where are you?"
"I'm going to be at Ikebukurou Station in half an hour. Is that okay?"
"Yeah, that's really easy for me."
"I'll call you when I arrive." And then Ryo hangs up.
Shige takes a different line than normal, going up to Ikebukurou and sitting by the fountain until he gets a text message from Ryo.
SENT 1:06PM
FROM: Shige ♥
Meet me on the top floor of the Tobu Department store. In the back, near the pay-phones.
It takes Shige a few minutes to find his way up there, but he spots Ryo instantly, back facing the hallway leading up to where he is, slouching against the wall. He hears Shige coming and turns around, smiling.
"Hi."
"Sorry. Today must have been a hassle for you."
Ryo shakes his head. "It wasn't that bad. My manager was irritated, but he has all the numbers I needed, so it was okay. Oh, and got you another pre-paid card. Activated it and everything."
Shige blushes, looking down at the floor. "Thanks."
Ryo's phone starts ringing and Shige hands it over - it's his manager. They talk for a few minutes before Ryo hangs up.
"They're still two more interviews I have to do today. I should be done around 5:30 or so."
"Okay."
Ryo looks over Shige's shoulder suspisciously for a few seconds, before leaning in close and kissing Shige on the cheek. "See you then."
Shige inhales sharply, turns, and watches Ryo walk away.
Once he's around the corner and out of sight, Shige opens up his phone and goes into his phonebook, opening up Ryo's information, and editting it to: Ryo ♥.
TITLE: Vacation Time
CHARACTERS: Shige, Tegoshi
SUMMARY: Tegoshi is a busy idol.
Ryo is in Osaka for the week, filming random bits of TV shows and having his picture taken, and, basically, being an idol. Shige has class, and it's not like he'd go, even if he didn't have classes. They mail back and forth everyday - a lot - and Ryo will call Shige on his breaks and leave a really long message if Shige doesn't pick up. Shige catches up on some work while the most prominent distraction in his life is out of town. However, about halfway through the week, a new distraction pops up.
"..Tegoshi-kun?"
"Hi, Shige!"
"... Why are you calling me?"
"Because!"
Shige blinks and then pinches the bridge of his nose. "Tegoshi-kun."
"I need Shige's help!"
"With what?"
"Ryo-chan's birthday present!"
Shige turns around and looks at the calendar hanging on the fridge. "His birthday was nearly a month and a half ago."
"I know," Tegoshi chirps. "I've been really busy, so I didn't have time. But, Shige! You'll help me pick out something good to make up for it being late, right?"
Shige considers saying, "no," just on principle. He and Tegoshi have met twice. The only reason Tegoshi even has his phone number is because he was worried about being beat-up my Kanjani8. But for some reason, and he doesn't even know why, Shige finds himself saying, "Fine. But this had better not take too long."
Tegoshi cheers and tells Shige to meet him in the Starbucks outside Shibuya station.
-- -- --
Shige takes his time getting ready, since Tegoshi is basically forcing him out into the December cold when he really should be studying. He ends up arriving at the Starbucks 10 minutes late, but can't find Tegoshi anywhere. Shige sends him a message. I'm here, but I can't find you. Where are you sitting? And the reply makes Shige frown.
SENT 12:45PM
FROM: TEGOSHI Y.
Of course you can't find me! XD
I'm still in Ginza. I'll be there soon, Shige!
Wait for me~ ♥
Shige frowns and ends up ordering a mocha to make himself feel better about the situation.
15 minutes later, Tegoshi comes meandering in. Shige seems him and tries to flag Tegoshi down, but the other goes straight to the counter and orders something. Shige's still frowning when Tegoshi turns around and sees him.
"If you do that too much, your face will freeze up!"
"Well, you're not helping."
Tegoshi smiles and takes a sip of his drink. "So, do you have any goods ideas for Ryo-chan?"
Shige leans back in his chair, thinking for a minute. "His headphones are getting kind of weird. He keeps complaining about how the left one hasn't been working right lately."
"That's it?"
"You think of something!" Shige snaps. "It's your fault that I'm even here!"
Tegoshi blinks. "Wait... Shige doesn't want to hang out with me?"
"I was studying!"
"Oh." Tegoshi takes another sip. "Well, I just really wanted Shige's help. Because I don't have a lot of time to think about a good present for Ryo-chan. This morning I had two interviews, and at 3 o'clock I have to go to campus and have a meeting with my advisor. Oh, and tonight I have a live filming for Music Station. I figured since Shige's smart, you could definitely help me get something good without taking long."
Shige processes Tegoshi little shpiel, before asking, "Campus?"
"Oh, yeah." Tegoshi starts folding his napkin into a little hat. "I'm a Psychology major at Waseda University."
Shige chokes on nothing. "What?"
Tegoshi smiles, leans across the table and puts the little hat on Shige's head. "You look cute like that!"
And that is the exact moment when Shige resigns himself to helping Tegoshi for the next two hours.
TITLE: Work Hours
PAIRING: Ryo/Shige
ADD'T CHARACTERS: Kanjani8
SUMMARY: Shige doesn't read work orders before hand.
Shige is a busy sort of person. Between school, work and Ryo, he actually has very little time, so generally, before a photoshoot, he doesn't take the time to look over the order very closely. So when he meets Nakagawa at the pier after his Thursday morning class, and is immediately hugged by a overly excited Yasuda and leered at by Yokoyama, Shige is pretty sure how the rest of his day is going to go. He pokes his head in to the trailer where the rest of group is still having their hair and make-up done, saying a quick, "Let's work well together today."
Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Ryo's face light up and wave discreetly; Shige jumps back outside of the trailer and goes to help Nakagawa set up. Yasuda and Yokoyama are loitering about, watching Shige and Nakagawa, and are soon joined by Murakami and Ryo, who again waves; Shige keeps working and Ryo doesn't seem to mind too much, but Shige still finds himself wondering if he's being a little cold. It's work, though. Shige rationalizes, and hopes that Ryo is mature enough to, for the most part, keep his business and private lives seperate. Shige doesn't want it to get in the way of Nakagawa's work, since he could easily fire Shige and find an assistant that can use a camera with some skill.
Once all of Kanjani8 is out of the trailer, their various managers and Nakagawa talk about the set-up and which direction the light is coming from and how in a few hours the wind is going to pick up, so it would be wonderful if the shoot could be finished by then. Nakagawa walks over to Shige, who hands him a camera, and they get to work.
Shige doesn't usually look through idol magazines and this his only his second time ever working on a Kanjani8 photoshoot, so he's a little surprised when, during some offshots, Yokoyama goes to a butt-slapping spree, and within minutes, the entire group is doing it, and Nakagawa is furiously snapping pictures. When that's died down, Maruyama screams, "Texas!" and tackles Yasuda to the ground. Shige's barely able to keep up with the action, considering how by the time he's replaced the film roll and put away the used roll, Nakagawa is nearly finishing the roll in the other camera.
With so much energy burned off, Kanjani8 starts to settle down and taking more "idol"-like pictures. Ohkura sits on the edge of the pier, looking pensive, and openly worrying about falling off and wondering how cold the water below is. Shibutani and Yasuda lie down on the old wood, side-by-side, staring at the sky, talking quietly about guitars while Nakagawa meanders around them, crawling around, getting good shots. Yokoyama grabs Ryo around the waist, resting his head on the other's shoulder, and Ryo just goes along with it, smiling, and most pointedly, not looking at Shige, who finds himself frowning for some reason.
After that, Shige goes into a sort of auto-pilot and goes through all the necessary actions, without actually paying attention, specifically to Maruyama and Murakami's respective shots. Nakagawa snaps his fingers in Shige's face, laughing when Shige apologizes. They pack everything into Nakagawa's car, and he then offers Shige a ride to the station. He blinks and turns around, scanning the area for Ryo, whom he can't find. Shige flips open his phone and there are no new messages. He's about to get into the car when he hears "Katou-kun!" yelled from the nearby parking lot where the trailer is still parked. Shibutani's standing in the doorway and waving at Shige to come over.
"Thanks, but I'll make it back on my own."
Nakagawa smiles, and thanks Shige for his hard work.
Shige steps into the trailer, right behind Shibutani and he's immediately pulled into a conversation with Yasuda about how there's supposed to be a storm that night and how much of a hassle it'll be, and whether or not Katou-kun wants to hang out with them that night.
"...All of you guys?" Shige asks quietly, and Yasuda grins cutely, before shaking his head.
Shige glances over at Ryo, who's trying desperately to get the rest of the gel out his hair and doesn't notice Shige.
"Of course, Ryo-chan's coming too. If he wasn't, it would probably be awkward for you, huh?" Shibutani says.
Ryo lifts his head from under the faucet, hair wet. "What about me?"
"You and Katou-kun are coming out with us, right?"
Ryo blinks and looks at Shige. "Do you want to?"
"I don't mind."
Ryo's quiet, and grabs a towel from beside the sink as the water starts running down his neck. "There's a new club in Shibuya that's supposed to be really neat."
Shibutani and Yasuda smile, turning to each other, starting up a conversation about what they should do on their next day off, and Shige uses it as an excuse to slip away and join Ryo across the trailer, leaning against the small counter while Ryo towels dries his hair.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Ryo asks.
"I hadn't realized." Shige pokes the hair dryer that's set out. "I normally don't look at the job summary before hand."
"Regardless. It's a nice surprise. We usually don't get to work together."
Some manager pokes his head into the trailer and shouts for Yokoyama and Maruyama in an irritated tone that if they don't hurry, they'll miss the train back to Osaka; they quickly say their goodbyes and leave.
Ryo tosses the wet towel over the back of a chair and reaches for the hair dryer, working slowly, but more to annoy Shibutani and Yasuda, who are gesturing for Ryo to hurry up, than anything else. They exit, and Shige assumes they're waiting outside. When Ryo's done, he puts the hairdryer in a drawer and then turns to Shige.
"Do you really want to go?"
Shige shrugs. "I guess."
"If you don't want to, it's okay," Ryo says quietly. "We can rent a movie and order take out. You know I don't mind."
Shige laughs and moves a still-damp lock of hair out of Ryo's face. "Let's go have a drink with Shibutani-kun and Yasuda-kun and take it from there."
Ryo looks at him long and hard before nodding and slipping on his jacket, gently tugging on Shige's wrist when he's ready go to.
