I knew I should have chosen green tea instead of chai, Isis thought, pressing a hand to her head as she walked down the street back towards the hotel. Although her talk with Timaeus had been an enjoyable distraction, she now felt vaguely ill; nauseous, mostly.

By the time she made it to the lobby, she was shivering slightly beneath her shawl, although she felt warm to her own touch. Oh, please don't have gotten sick on top of everything else, she sighed to herself, pressing the elevator button for her floor. Thankfully she was the only passenger, and leaned her forehead against the cool wooden panelling.

She hoped Malik and Marik had taken her advice to heart and gone out. Just because her reasons for being here were not solely light-hearted, didn't mean they shouldn't enjoy themselves. She knew they both felt stifled in Egypt, for each his own reasons, but it still bothered her. If only she knew how to give them each what they wanted. She would have checked their rooms, if she'd felt up to it.

She fished her keycard out of her bag, waiting for it to beep and unlock her room. The carpeted hallway seemed to swirl around her, and she slipped inside almost literally before catching herself.

I need... to lay down... she thought.

In somewhat of a haze, she undressed and put on a thin linen nightgown. She felt too feverish to wear anything heavier, and it wasn't like she was going out in public. She lay down on her bed and pulled the sheets over her.

Just a few minutes of rest, Isis thought, and promptly passed out.

isis, marik
