Lets do this! (Definitely not event!)

[Meeting 'Sakura' as his nametag read had been a little strange, to say the least. But when he'd somehow proven himself able to tell what her career at least partially entailed along with the fact that she had experience in 'shadows', she wound up with no other choice but to listen.

And then he asked if it would be possible to help a doppleganger of ( Read more... )

What do I do with his ka- should it be visible, or does she awaken it somehow? indarknessbound November 21 2011, 18:21:49 UTC
[It's a corridor - a lot like the one between Yugi and Yami Yugi's minds, actually. Or rather, identical. Except for the next door, now opposite Yume, which is boarded up with thick wooden planks and yellow tape. "KEEP OUT" has been painted on in red, and no handle is visible. Acrid black smoke is seeping out from under it.]

Ah- there you are!

[Brooklime's back. Seems he was out here all along.]

Have you figured out what you're looking for? [He's placed himself between her and that next door, and is smiling politely.]

She'd have to awaken, or 'trigger' it, since it's from within. marbeledmask November 21 2011, 18:26:44 UTC
((OOC - Will quite likely appear when both of these two are in danger. :U ))

[Oh. This is interesting. Before she answers she looks up and don the corridor, finding that it merges and 'ties up' at the ends.

So obviously that room is...

...Spewing black smoke, she notes as she looks down from behind the mask.] "Yes and no. It's evident that nothing in the room behind me will hold the answers but..."

[She pauses a moment.] "If there is something unpleasant in the room you stand in front of, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you." [Particularly if you don't want her in there.]

Invoking popular fanon and saying he's been in his soul room when Bakura took over indarknessbound November 21 2011, 18:34:59 UTC
((OOC - his soul room being the one currently smoking))

There's no reason to go in there, really, it's probably not the root of the problem. I mean, the other room's more important, right? If it's where you came in.

[The corridor is gradually beginning to fill with black smoke. Brooklime coughs when a strand coils up near his face.]

I thought you said I wouldn't have to show you anything I didn't want to... [That came out as a plea.]

Ooooh~ And d'aww.. Poor Brooklime. ;3; marbeledmask November 21 2011, 18:38:37 UTC
"I did." [Grimace.] "However I referred to personal secrets- things that originate from your soul." [And before that smoke gets in BROOKLIME'S room..!

She slams the door shut, looking around at the smoke with narrowed eyes.] "I am sorry... But unfortunately, it seems what you dread most is not tied to your soul and mind directly- which means that this other room is unfortunately the source of your troubles in someway." [As to WHY...

She bets it's the ring. Has no clue how, but that's probably it.]

I have never written anyone so shamelessly angsty XD indarknessbound November 21 2011, 18:45:29 UTC
[Calmly,] I really don't think you should go in there. This was a bad idea.

[He looks quite adamant, and was that... a tremor? As in, the corridor just shook. The smoke is coiling into abstract shapes, though some of them look as though they might have teeth.]

THEY CAN BE ANGST BUDDIES (Though Yume's more hypocritical now...) marbeledmask November 21 2011, 19:02:44 UTC
[Enough of a tremor that she's reaching for her sword and stumbling. More importantly, with the teeth appearing...] "Gh-!"

[The blade cuts through the smoke but not Brooklime thankfully, but with obvious desperation she looks back to him.] "Brooklime- we cannot stop the problem without first facing it!" [And you know what?

She's fairly certain that her best bet now is to just plow through before his refusal gets them killed.

So here's to her sword being turned toward the door-

With all the intent of breaking the boards across it..!]

No one can share his angst, for it is the loneliest and most melodramatic!!!! indarknessbound November 21 2011, 19:09:03 UTC
[Fortunately none of this seems to be affecting him. The tremors, which are now becoming quite frequent, don't bother him, and not one of the steadily coalescing smoke monsters seems to be aiming for Brooklime - perhaps they're internal defence? Or maybe they just need a host.]

You can't go in th-

[But he's ducking out of the way of her sword, so his protest is cut short. Said sword will go through the boards like a hot knife through butter, and then it's just a question of kicking down the door...]

IMPOSSIBLE! 80 ...Someday I will make ACTUAL angst muffins. :U marbeledmask November 21 2011, 19:15:16 UTC
((OOC - It'll have their faces on them. Guess they're cupcakes then.))

[Well.

That or a matter of the sword's weight and force making it swing inward.

She's at least giving Brooklime the curtesy of going first or getting a word in though, by standing and turning back to him again.] "Are you prepared? I do not want to be forced to attack your mind's defenses more than needed- but the fact is, these defenses do not match the energies of your natural 'room'..."

I once made cupcakes with 0_o faces indarknessbound November 21 2011, 19:24:21 UTC
[He doesn't really have a leg to stand on. She either goes in there to help him, or this was completely unproductive. Besides, she's got past the first line of defence already.]

You can enter. [He rally doesn't sound happy about that, but the tremors stop. Though there are smokey monsters lurking at the edges of the corridor, and formless black smog is still wafting under the door.] Just... don't be surprised, okay? I haven't had any reason to go in here recently, so- it's how I left it, I guess.

[And if even half of that made sense to her, he would be surprised.]

Yume, stop lying. >:[ marbeledmask November 21 2011, 19:30:00 UTC
"I doubt there will be much that surprises me." [Lie.] "When areas of the mind are under duress, they tend to erode, and crumble. Moreover, if this is a different being's 'room', as I suspect, it's only natural that it be different. You shouldn't worry about being judged- I am a 'Doctor'- this is my job. I will nod use anything I see in here as a reflection of you."

[Though that might also be a lie depending on what happens, shush.] "So." [She moves to walk in.] "Shall we? It's best to stay close- sometimes the minds defenses don't recognize their own 'host'..." [Really Yume? 'Host'? You picked THAT word?]

In which I try not to go overboard with imagery, and fail. indarknessbound November 21 2011, 19:41:46 UTC
No, I think this room is mine... [Ignoring that wonderful use of language, he follows her in.]

[In layout, it is similar to the first room: of reasonable size, with a window opposite the door, and a table beneath the window. However, the table is scratched and chipped, and one of the legs is broken. White curtains are closed over the window - the walls and carpet are also uniformly white ( ... )

HAVE I TOLD YOU I LOVE YOU I DON'T REMEMBER IF I DID marbeledmask November 21 2011, 19:50:22 UTC
[Her eyes are drawn to the clock initially, pristine as it is.] "Interesting..." [She moves to examine it, but stops, able to see it clearly from here she is.] "Midnight..." [Not the witching hour though- that's 3AM, so what-

Her eyes are drawn to the phrases on the wall, and this time she does draw close- to the words written along the sides of the graffiti in black.

Her eyes widen.] "These..."

"These are from the doctrine of Ma'at... The forty-two confessions..." [She looks back around the room, and toward Brooklime.] "You are sure this is your room..?"

((OOC - Just remember we're gonna need some room for sword play in a bit... :I ))

PROBABLY YES BUT MY EGO DOESN'T MIND indarknessbound November 21 2011, 19:57:58 UTC
((OOC: let's just say it's a big room.))

Oh, yes. [He sounds rather resigned.] If you know that, then you'll know that there are some missing. [A million guesses which, not that Yume would know. Clue: it's not the ones about adultery.]

The room next door isn't mine. [He distinctly remembers it belonging to someone else, after all. And being locked.] I suppose I must have redecorated when the space was left vacant.

[He leans down to inspect a few broken figurines, half made. He's not going to be much help unless she pushes him.]

WE'RE BOTH SO EGOTISTICAL OHGOD- xD And that works. :3 marbeledmask November 21 2011, 20:04:21 UTC
"...I won't search for which ones are missing..." [She would know if she looked after all.] "...They would be your thoughts, your property. I am not here to invade on those."

[She comes to stand near Brooklime, glancing at the broken figurines.] "But. We need to trace the source of the darkness causing you difficulty- and for that I need your help. This room is yours- it's your mind, and reacts as such. And while I would ordinarily search myself, this room is not as large as most realms I'm familiar with- it shows you're careful, which is good... But we need to reveal the connection to your ring."

[And pray the ring doesn't catch on...]

((OOC - Though. It'd be good to get a few hits in before any darkness kicks Yume's rear and gives reason for the ka to show up. :'D If that's cool.))

Thanks. [Not that it's worth much, given how much she's seen already.]

Well- what's it likely to look like? [He stands. Not much in here that looks likely...] All these things are mine. What are we looking for?

Ohooooo~ -waggles eyebrows- (Also; plotting PM coming your way.) marbeledmask November 22 2011, 17:19:44 UTC
"That's the difficult part," [she admits, looking around.] "As a foreign object or presence one would typically say it stands out- however, it seems to have found a way to cloak this on its own. ...Typical of 'darkness', I would think." [Hnnn...]

"Look about this room; is there anything, however small, that doesn't feel like it should be here? Don't judge by appearances either; judge by the feeling, the sensation of it. This is your mind- it will play tricks even with you, so what is obviously 'out of place' might not necessarily be so."
