[Meeting 'Sakura' as his nametag read had been a little strange, to say the least. But when he'd somehow proven himself able to tell what her career at least partially entailed along with the fact that she had experience in 'shadows', she wound up with no other choice but to listen.
And then he asked if it would be possible to help a doppleganger of

Ah- there you are!
[Brooklime's back. Seems he was out here all along.]
Have you figured out what you're looking for? [He's placed himself between her and that next door, and is smiling politely.]

[Oh. This is interesting. Before she answers she looks up and don the corridor, finding that it merges and 'ties up' at the ends.
So obviously that room is...
...Spewing black smoke, she notes as she looks down from behind the mask.] "Yes and no. It's evident that nothing in the room behind me will hold the answers but..."
[She pauses a moment.] "If there is something unpleasant in the room you stand in front of, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you." [Particularly if you don't want her in there.]
Reply
There's no reason to go in there, really, it's probably not the root of the problem. I mean, the other room's more important, right? If it's where you came in.
[The corridor is gradually beginning to fill with black smoke. Brooklime coughs when a strand coils up near his face.]
I thought you said I wouldn't have to show you anything I didn't want to... [That came out as a plea.]
Reply
She slams the door shut, looking around at the smoke with narrowed eyes.] "I am sorry... But unfortunately, it seems what you dread most is not tied to your soul and mind directly- which means that this other room is unfortunately the source of your troubles in someway." [As to WHY...
She bets it's the ring. Has no clue how, but that's probably it.]

[He looks quite adamant, and was that... a tremor? As in, the corridor just shook. The smoke is coiling into abstract shapes, though some of them look as though they might have teeth.]
Reply
[The blade cuts through the smoke but not Brooklime thankfully, but with obvious desperation she looks back to him.] "Brooklime- we cannot stop the problem without first facing it!" [And you know what?
She's fairly certain that her best bet now is to just plow through before his refusal gets them killed.
So here's to her sword being turned toward the door-
With all the intent of breaking the boards across it..!]

You can't go in th-
[But he's ducking out of the way of her sword, so his protest is cut short. Said sword will go through the boards like a hot knife through butter, and then it's just a question of kicking down the door...]

[Well.
That or a matter of the sword's weight and force making it swing inward.
She's at least giving Brooklime the curtesy of going first or getting a word in though, by standing and turning back to him again.] "Are you prepared? I do not want to be forced to attack your mind's defenses more than needed- but the fact is, these defenses do not match the energies of your natural 'room'..."

You can enter. [He rally doesn't sound happy about that, but the tremors stop. Though there are smokey monsters lurking at the edges of the corridor, and formless black smog is still wafting under the door.] Just... don't be surprised, okay? I haven't had any reason to go in here recently, so- it's how I left it, I guess.
[And if even half of that made sense to her, he would be surprised.]
Reply
[Though that might also be a lie depending on what happens, shush.] "So." [She moves to walk in.] "Shall we? It's best to stay close- sometimes the minds defenses don't recognize their own 'host'..." [Really Yume? 'Host'? You picked THAT word?]

[In layout, it is similar to the first room: of reasonable size, with a window opposite the door, and a table beneath the window. However, the table is scratched and chipped, and one of the legs is broken. White curtains are closed over the window - the walls and carpet are also uniformly white ( ... )

Her eyes are drawn to the phrases on the wall, and this time she does draw close- to the words written along the sides of the graffiti in black.
Her eyes widen.] "These..."
"These are from the doctrine of Ma'at... The forty-two confessions..." [She looks back around the room, and toward Brooklime.] "You are sure this is your room..?"
((OOC - Just remember we're gonna need some room for sword play in a bit... :I ))
Reply
Oh, yes. [He sounds rather resigned.] If you know that, then you'll know that there are some missing. [A million guesses which, not that Yume would know. Clue: it's not the ones about adultery.]
The room next door isn't mine. [He distinctly remembers it belonging to someone else, after all. And being locked.] I suppose I must have redecorated when the space was left vacant.
[He leans down to inspect a few broken figurines, half made. He's not going to be much help unless she pushes him.]
Reply
[She comes to stand near Brooklime, glancing at the broken figurines.] "But. We need to trace the source of the darkness causing you difficulty- and for that I need your help. This room is yours- it's your mind, and reacts as such. And while I would ordinarily search myself, this room is not as large as most realms I'm familiar with- it shows you're careful, which is good... But we need to reveal the connection to your ring."
[And pray the ring doesn't catch on...]
((OOC - Though. It'd be good to get a few hits in before any darkness kicks Yume's rear and gives reason for the ka to show up. :'D If that's cool.))

Thanks. [Not that it's worth much, given how much she's seen already.]
Well- what's it likely to look like? [He stands. Not much in here that looks likely...] All these things are mine. What are we looking for?
Reply
"Look about this room; is there anything, however small, that doesn't feel like it should be here? Don't judge by appearances either; judge by the feeling, the sensation of it. This is your mind- it will play tricks even with you, so what is obviously 'out of place' might not necessarily be so."
