There is a spinal nerve that splits off into two branches, the genito-femoral nerve and the ilioinguinal nerve. The ilioinguinal nerve partly supplies sensory fibers to the anterior+medial portion of the thigh, while the GF nerve partly supplies motor fibers to the cremasteric muscle in the spermatic cord.
