I would very passionately like to encourage you to go into pediatrics. When I was a kid, my doctors had no sensitivity to how scary it is for a child to be sick or to be at a doctor. They didn't understand at all how difficult it is for a child to even recognize something as a symptom, much less to explain it. I think this is very poor practice, every bit as bad as mishandling tools. When a child is nervous about their sickness or about the doctor, then they will be dishonest in speaking of their symptoms, noncompliant in their treatment, and signs of stress could cause abnormal readings on equipment (such as if you were to take their pulse and find it to be high).

I think you are a very sensitive, caring and nurturing person. I believe those qualities are, for a doctor, necessary components of a scientific mind and vital to arriving at accurate data.

Just one lala's opinion.

Heheh....you would be the cutest pediatric doctor. If you like kids and you have the disposition for it (which I think you do, based on what I know of you) you should totally go for it.

Do you have to decide soon, or do they let you try different wards? If pediatrics doesn't work out, I hear psychiatrics is hilarious.
