This is why we introduced National Education in schools in 1997. It is not to indoctrinate our young, but to instil values and impart convictions about Singapore. It is to ensure that as students mature, they acquire a good understanding of self, society and nation, and a deep sense of personal responsibility and moral obligation to contribute
