I went to my little sister's birthday party tonight. It was really nice until I carried my cat upstairs and began talking to Jessie and Mom about how skinny he looked

Sweety,
16 yo to a cat is a long time. Boots has live a long and wonderful life because of you.
But there comes a time unfortunatly when our loved pets get old and sick and have to be put down.
Few years ago i lost my Tigerlily, she was a wonderful cat but got a tumor on her back. We didn't have the money to have the surgery needed to remove the tumor and her tail so we had to have her put down. I miss her but i have great memories and pictures to remind me of her.
She too lived a good life beause of me and i know she was happy.
So while it is sad to know that she will be gone, feel better knowing that she isn't going so suffer.

I think it's a good choice to have him put down before he gets really bad. I think Pepper's next on the list.

I think now is a good time to look back on all the joy that Boots has brought to you and cry over it, but don't cry just over the fact that he's dying. Focus on the positive. Everything dies.

I'm sorry to hear about your pet's passing. It's such a different kind of loss when it's a pet because they understand us in ways that humans never will...

I'm truly sorry for your loss. To have lived so long, he had a loving home. Take comfort in that his suffering will end, and as long as you carry his memory, his spirit will be close to you.
