Seriously, I love yaoi as much as the next fangirl (though I think het is underappreciated in fanfic like whoa), but it just lends itself so well to some serious sporking because the characterization in a lot of fic on ff.net seriously is that bad. LOL. And as much as I enjoy Suzaku and Lelouch in a romantic relationship, I also tend to think that people undervalue their friendship. I mean, that they have deep affection for each other is canon and it's not suddenly cheapened or anything if they aren't screwing on top of that.

I think Lelouch/Euphemia is a little more defensible because it's sort of hinted that there was canon romantic love, so. Can't really fault them for shipping it. Not my kink, but whatever. I prefer Euphy with Suzaku.

But I think in general, people tend to undervalue friendship and platonic love a lot. I'm fully convinced that Suzaku and Lelouch (and, obviously, Lelouch and Nunnally) love each other a lot (platonically), and I sometimes think that love gets enough recognition or value for what it is.

Although, on the other hand, I also get annoyed at the people who claim that SuzaLulu is some sort of crack pairing. I don't think it is, the platonic affection is all there, and it's not such a huge stretch to make a bit more out of it. Of course it's not canon, but it's not laughable or whacked-out or completely out there, either. I don't know.
