Chapter 2 The next day, Ryoko reached the dance studio half an hour earlier than the practice time.
"Good Morning!" she greeted loudly and placed her bag on the table.
There was another bag on the table but nobody greeted her back. Shrugging off the thought, she grabbed her practice clothing and headed to the changing room. She was in deep thoughts when she pushed open the door and didn't notice that someone else was in there. When she looked up, she found herself staring into another pair of dark brown eyes. Startled, she took a few steps back and her back hit the wall. Zooming out her view, she realized that the pair of eyes belonged to Ryosuke and he was wearing his shirt halfway, exposing his well-trained abs to her. Flustered, Ryoko quickly looked away as heat crept up to her cheeks.
"W-wear your shirt!" she stuttered at the words.
Ryosuke flashed a smirk and wore his shirt swiftly. Grabbing his clothes, he walked towards the door and stopped beside her. Leaning close to her ears, he whispered softly.
"I didn't know Nakano-kun is such a pervert."
And the door slammed shut. Her eyes widened. Did he just tease me?
She placed her hand at the spot where her heart was. It was beating abnormally at a fast rate. She closed her eyes and tried to breathe slowly while swearing silently.
I, Nakayama Ryoko, will never like Yamada Ryosuke! Adding on to the fact that he's having that bratty attitude!
Just then, the door opened again.
"Oh, Ryo-chan!"
Ryoko's eyes immediately flew opened. She turned her head to the side and was surprised to see Daiki standing beside her.
"A-arioka-kun?!" she stuttered again while staring at him widely.
Daiki chuckled lightly at her reaction and walked slowly to the basin.
"Didn't I tell you to call me Daiki yesterday?" he asked while taking out his practicing clothing from the small bag.
Ryoko literally did a face-palm. Damn! I’ve totally forgot about it!
"A-ah, I’m sorry," she apologized and walked towards the cubicle.
Daiki looked up just in time to see her walking into the cubicle through the mirror reflection.
"Ryo-chan, why are you going into the cubicle? Aren't you going to change outside?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
Ryoko's eyes widened again. Shit! I forgot that I'm a guy now! I need to find an excuse now. Ah, what’s wrong with me? Why am I forgetting so many things just in one day?!
"I-I need to use the toilet," Ryoko replied quickly and turned around to flash Daiki an embarrassed smile before entering the cubicle.
Once inside, she quickly fastened the lock on the door and leaned her back against it.
"That was close," she thought in relieved. I’d better start changing now.
On the other hand, Daiki was still staring at the cubicle that Ryoko had just entered.
"Something is really weird," he thought to himself.
Looking at the time on his watch, he decided to shrug off the feeling and started changing as well.
----------------------------------------------------------
"There they are!"
Daiki and Ryoko looked up just in time to see nine pairs of eyes staring at them with one index finger stuck in their direction. They walked to their respective bags and stuffed their clothes in.
"The both of them stayed in the changing room for way too long! What were you doing in there?" Yuto asked, eyeing them suspiciously which earned a smack on the head from Daiki.
"Stop your dirty-thinking, Yuto! Ryo-chan needed to use the toilet and I waited for him," Daiki replied, clicking his tongue in the progress.
"Ryo-chan?!" the other nine members chorused, looking very surprised.
"Yeah, Ryo-chan," Daiki replied again with the matter-of-fact tone.
The other members looked at each other before shifting their gaze at Ryoko.
"Wh-what?" she stuttered, shifting her gaze nervously from one member to another.
"When did the both of you get so close? Didn't both of you just meet each other yesterday?" Kei asked in confusion.
Daiki nodded his head while walking over to Ryoko and placed his arm around her shoulders.
"Yeah, we just met each other yesterday. However, since he’s going to be the replacement for Chii, I thought we should start treating him as one of us," Daiki said and flashed a smile at her.
Ryoko blushed at the closeness of their faces and looked away while nodding her head slightly. Ryosuke saw and clicked his tongue with irritation.
"I think what Dai-chan said is right. We should be treating Nakano-kun as one of us now," Kota said loudly and the members nodded their heads, except Ryosuke.
"Alright, we should start our practice now. Yama-chan, Chii, help Ryo-chan with the dance moves. The rest of you should continue to keep up that spirit!" Kota said as he pressed the 'play' button.
The first song started playing and everyone became much focused.
"Ryo-chan, you should do this move at this part," Yuuri instructed as he showed Ryoko the move.
Ryoko nodded and tried to do it. Ryosuke, on the other hand, was observing her.
"Stop," Ryosuke said and walked up to her.
Standing in front of her, he repeated the move again.
"This part of your hand should be here, not there," he said and showed her.
Yuuri wanted to cut in but Ryosuke stopped him.
"Repeat the move again until I see that you get it right. If not, you aren't going to get your break," Ryosuke ordered and Ryoko sighed.
"Yes," she answered and started doing the move again.
----------------------------------------------------------
"Wrong!" Ryosuke shouted and Ryoko let out a sigh.
It was already the fiftieth time that he had stopped her. Her whole body was aching terribly.
"What now?" she asked tiredly.
She didn’t have any energy left to argue with him. She needed to rest. Her legs were numb from the dancing. Looking at her in that state, the other members who were resting on the couch were gritting their teeth, suppressing their anger towards the attitude that Ryosuke was showing to Ryoko.
"I'll stop Yama-chan," Daiki growled quietly.
Just as he was about to stand up when Kota pushed him back on the couch and Daiki glared hard at him.
"Why did you stop me? Can't you see that Yama-chan is torturing him? He has been asking Ryo-chan to repeat that move when it's already perfect!" Daiki hissed, trying his best to control the anger building within him but Kota merely shook his head.
"We shouldn't get involved in this. Do you still remember that we had already asked Ryo-chan to help us yesterday? Since he had agreed to do it, we shouldn't interfere. He has his ways," Kota said and averted his attention to the trio.
"As I had said earlier, your hand should be place here!" Ryosuke shouted and Ryoko clicked her tongue. Damn him.
She nodded and did the move again. Yuuri bit his lips while looking at Ryoko helplessly.
"I can't let Yama-chan force him to do that move anymore. Ryo-chan is already exhausted," he thought and walked up to Ryosuke.
"Yama-chan, let him rest. Look at him, he's tired already!" Yuuri said, placing his left hand on Ryosuke's shoulder.
However, Ryosuke shrugged off his hand.
"No, I won't let him rest until he gets it right," Ryosuke replied firmly, staring hard at Ryoko who was repeating the move all over again.
Yuuri shook his head and frowned harder.
"Yama-chan, can’t you just let him rest! Ryo-chan had already done it perfectly! Even I couldn't do that move so well!" Yuuri shrieked, glaring hard at him.
Everyone froze. It was the first time that they had seen Yuuri exploding his anger in front of them. Ryosuke was taken aback as well and lowered his head. Finally, he looked at Yuuri which caused Yuuri's eyes to widen. Instead of being furious, Ryosuke was wearing a hurt expression. Before Yuuri could say anything, Ryosuke spoke and made him shut up.
"All I wanted to do was train him to be perfect in the moves and be of your standard. Isn't that right?" Ryosuke asked softly with his eyebrows furrowed and ran out of the studio, slamming the door with a loud bang.
Yuuri looked down on the floor and clenched his fists.
"Ryo-chan!"
Yuuri heard the other members screamed and turned around. To his horror, he saw Ryoko collapsed onto the floor. Luckily, Daiki grabbed her just in time and Yuuri rushed to her side immediately.
"I’m sorry, Ryo-chan! I should have stopped him earlier," Yuuri apologized profusely but Ryoko shook her head and flashed him a weak smile.
"It’s okay, Chinen-kun," she said weakly and paused to look at the other members that were crowding around her before continuing, “Please don't blame Yamada-kun for it. He's suffering inside too."
And the last thing she saw was the members looking at her worriedly before her vision blacked out.
