The FFFF, competition, and fursuit performance

This started as a reply to Shivon's FA journal about how he is not voting in the Fandom's Favorite Fursuit Fracas (fursuittourney). Crossposted to my FA JournalI've long had mixed feelings about the tournament. While it's nice to showcase new suits and people who make fun videos and pictures to promote their suits, the "whoring" for votes and negativity focused ( Read more... )

Totally agree with you on all points. The only year I was in the tourney, I lost to a guy who had a murrsuit, and got votes that way, even tho he barely wore it in public. Yay.

Like you, I wish there was a way to show performing (and by that, I don't mean just dancing -- the new way to PopUfurity). Those that can make the suit come to life, and actually convey messages, feelings, and emotion are the ones that should be in the contest. Not just the person that bought the $5K suit to pose and walk with no emotion.

There used to be a place here on LJ that was run by Antimon to showcase suits, but he hasn't used it in over a year. It was called FursuitPOD.

I like your idea. I was glad not to be included this year. :/

I'd like to see the FFFF be a fight to the death...
That make it get really interesting if your suit lost you had to burn it...

TWO SUITS ENTER ONE SUIT LEAVES :-)

I'm sure a lot less people would be a part of it and getting all butt hurt over this thing.

I think it should be more like the hunger games...they all fight to the death...

I am still a fan of DerpSuit tourney...enter in Tardfin and Pedobear. Make fun of the ugliest and weirdest characters in the fanDUMB.

Eh, I never paid too much attention to FFFF. I don't have a good enough memory to remember it! And nobody ever nominates me, so.. XD I'm not too bothered, it's mostly a popularity contest rather than judging on how well you perform in suit.

I love the fursuit tourney, really I love it because its an excuse to make videos and take more photos. All through the season, the time I'm most inspired and able to get together and convince my friends to make treks to different adventure destinations AND drag along our fursuits is because of the whole tournament.

The reason they don't get taken other times of the year? Nobody else seems to want to bring fursuits along "because I want to" it seems to make more sense to do it when there is something to do it FOR I guess!

So I'm excited for it simply so I can have a semi-tangible reason to go outside and take photos and make cute videos!
