I'm posting things that appeal. I was in a defiant mood when I posted that. To me it's a protest against eternal, all-encompassing promises and a warning about what happens when someone gives to someone else without getting anything back. That's all negative - so the defiance. But I like the poem for itself as well. Phrasing so quaint. Words so careful and delicate.
