It's been awhile, and I finally have some spare time so I thought what the hell. I finally moved into my new place. It is decidedly crappier in all respects to my previous dwelling but it is $250 dollars cheaper a month, which makes Jon smile. My housemates seem decent at the very least but I'll have to give them some time to get comfortable

Sponge of pain and agony? I think the better metaphor is beaten to a pulp in some sort of quiet, elaborately planned incident, and you save the blood and pus, and then drop it on your opponents. The unfortunate part is that you have to pretend the blood and pus cases pain, as opposed to just an icky feeling. Yeah, I guess your metaphor wins, well played.
