One of my favorite things to do at Christmas time is to decorate the tree. In my house growing up, it was always a planned family event. It got harder as we got older to get all of us to be home at the same time, but we always made sure we were all together to decorate the tree. There was a pattern to it - as there was to most things that happened

i love this post. :)
we didn't get a tree because of the move coming up and all that, but (while it makes me so happy to hear about such a touching family holiday) it makes wish we'd just sucked it up and gotten one. we are lacking that warm, holiday spirit feeling.

The year we bought our first house, we closed 7 days before Christmas so we skipped the tree. And while it totally made sense to do without it, I was still a bit sad. I love having a tree up in my livingroom for exactly that warm feeling that you mention.
