It was the splashing sound that had brought the situation to his attention. Kaldur had just gotten back from visiting Atlantis and had been mildly surprised when M’gann hadn’t greeted him- she usually made it a habit to do so. A quick walk into the kitchen found a small note tacked on the fridge, so M’gann was shopping. That explained where she went but the note made no mention of the second permanent resident of the mountain, and it was after he had turned off the television that he heard the splashing. That in of itself wasn’t unusual, Superboy’s talking to himself was.
Curious Kaldur followed the noise and standing outside the door listened. A loud splash, some muttered complaining and then- very quickly he pushed open the door and stared. Superboy blinked at him and then very carefully looked down at the tub, then slowly back at Kaldur, “This isn’t what it looks like,” he said this all very seriously.
The serious tone and face was ruined by the fact there were bubbles in his hair. Taking a careful survey of the bathroom found ( ... )

When she’d gotten the phone call she had expected some kind of emergency, something worth her time- something that was not a little bundle of hyperactive energy that was currently squirming in her arms. Artemis glared at Kaldur, “What…is this?” she asked- it had only been on instinct that she’d grabbed the little dog, and now in her hands she wasn’t sure what to think.
“He is Krypto the second.”
“Krypto?” a chill went up her spine, “the second?”
“He’s my dog,” Superboy added quietly, taking the squirming pup from Artemis- entering his arms the dog immediately calmed and wagged its tail.
Artemis frowned, “I hate little dogs…” she frowned, “What is i-he?”
Superboy frowned in confusion, “He’s a dog.”
“What breed?” Artemis said after a moment- sometimes she managed to forget that someone so hot could be so adorably stupid to the intricacies of the world.
Kaldur frowned, “I was hoping that you could possibly shed some light on this,” he paused, “as well as assisting Superboy in shopping for some…supplies.”
Oh goodie. Sighing ( ... )

Relenting Superboy followed Artemis into the store and together they got all the things he needed. A kennel, a dog bed, some dog food, bowls, collar, leash, some toys, it was all of the basics Artemis could think of. She had cringed when Superboy had started looking at the little clothes for the dogs (“If I wear clothes, why doesn’t he?”) and it was only with the excuse they couldn’t afford it that she managed to drag him away.
As they stood there paying for the things with Superboy’s money- she hadn’t been aware he had any money until he’d pulled it out, she wasn’t even sure where he got it- Artemis happened to glance at Krypto (the second). The little dog looked back at her and gave a loud bark- or at least it sounded loud in the quiet. Artemis scowled and looked away.
She had a bad feeling that this dog would be causing her a lot of trouble in the future…

Two days, that’s how long they had managed to keep Krypto (the second) a secret from Batman. All of them stood shock still and watched in horror as Batman looked ( ... )

Obstacle three was Batman. Two weeks of hard work and using Robin very, very often, resulted in them keeping the dog from Batman. Black Canary had even helped once, pulling him away and turning him pointedly away from the dog as Wally raced to get Krypto (the second) back into his room. All of that hard week was now gone in one small mistake, and now Krypto (the second) was sitting happily on the very edge of Batman’s cape and looking at him expectantly- having dropped the squeaky mouse at the Dark Knight’s feet. All of them stared and waited, holding their breaths but keeping their positions.
This collective held breath lasted until very slowly Batman turned to them again. Robin glanced at Kid Flash and for a moment Artemis thought it’d be a repeat of her own distraction- but then Batman spoke. “As I was saying, this mission is-“ and continued like there currently was a little dog pawing at his boots, expecting him to throw the little pink squeaky mouse.
Artemis found her attention for Batman’s speech, gone. Her eyes were drawn ( ... )

It went from one dog to two. M’gann had been serious about getting a dog. Artemis had spent hours trying to convince her to get a practical kind of dog. A lab, a husky, a terrier, or at least a regular size, but M’gann had her heart set on a small dog. Not just small, but tiny…teacup sized even. She wanted a dog that she could carry around with her in a bag, like she’d seen on her shows. She had come across the teacup poodle and had her heart set on one, Artemis had begged her to get a larger size but she wanted a tiny one. Eventually Artemis had given up trying to convince M’gann and helped her find her stupid, tiny dog.
Artemis spent almost two weeks searching for the dog. Robin had used the supercomputer in the Batcave and even then M’gann had been picky. She wanted a white colored one, not just cream or even slightly off-white, she wanted…white. It had taken them ages, more than eight different home visits, until they eventually found one that met M’gann’s standards- Artemis had been slightly relived to find that it’d actually ( ... )

Ace, as mean and big as he was the dog was a complete and utter softy. Still Artemis liked him way better than T’io and slightly better than Krypto (the second). The three dogs spent hours in the base, Ace never spent the night and was never there the whole time but when he did come over the whole base was lively. In fact, since the addition of the pets, the whole base was a lot livelier whenever Artemis came over. It was…a nice change. Whenever there was a crap mission and they came back to shower, change and report the dogs were always there to greet them, Krypto (the second) yapping and jumping around their heels and T’io a distance away yipping and running excited to M’gann. Red Tornado never once complained about having to watch the dogs- Artemis thought he secretly liked it.
So it came as a surprise when she came in one day and saw a cat lounging on the couch back. For a very long while she stared at the feline. It was bright orange, lighter orange underneath, sleek with a fluffy tail; the only other color was white. A white ( ... )

Batman stood there quietly. Superboy had most of the couch, Krypto (the second) curled up on his stomach, and on the last cushion M’gann sat, lightly petting T’io. Sitting in the chair Artemis was eyeing Wally and his two turtles (“Terminal and Velocity?” “I was two!!”) he was feeding lettuce to. Kaldur was in the other chair, reading and petting Streaky- who was curled up and purring loudly in his lap. Roy was leaning against the couch, closer to M’gann than Superboy, at his feet Ace was napping and leaning against Ace was Robin, who was nudging Wally with his foot and trying to get the speedster from spoiling his turtles. The television was playing a movie of some sorts that only M’gann and Superboy were really paying attention to.
All in all a quaint scene- Batman looked at Krypto (the second) who was napping peacefully. He was glad that Superboy had gotten the dog- he would never say it out loud but that dog had done a lot. Not long after “casually” mentioning Krypto (the second) and T’io to the League, somehow Krypto the ( ... )

There were a lot of missing words and redundant sentence fragments, I noticed. I think you just wrote too quickly for your fingers to keep track of what you were writing, so you should read if over an extra time or get someone to beta read, for future fics. :3 Phenomenal story, though.

And re-re-reading it...wow, there are quite a few mistakes. (I feel mildly embarrassed now, oh dear...)Still, thank you for mentioning them. Next time I'll go through it with a fine toothed comb, or at least go over it one more time. =)
