Television Should Have Had It Right

He was carrying her books. He'd picked them up and was carrying them for her, and that was supposed to MEAN something, but it didn't. Television always said that when a boy carried your books it was because he liked you, right? So why was Conner carrying her books if he had no interest? He was acting like he didn't care and that wasn't right at all.

"You're carrying my books?"

"You don't want them to get wet do you?"

Not a care in the world for the romantic intent that implied. Karen thought Conner was her boy friend. Karen must have got it all wrong because Conner didn't want to be her boy friend at all.

Television Should Have Had It Right 2

Wally and Artemis should have gotten together by now. That's how it would have gone on television, and it would have spared her the humiliation of have to explain to Wally that she wanted to kiss CONNER, she wanted to hold CONNER's hand. She didn't want to be with Wally.

"Come on beautiful, we could see a movie."

"I'm not really interested. Why don't you take Artemis?"

"And what get soda dumped on my head? I'd rather go with you."

She wanted to cry. If only it were like TV.

"Then take Robin."

"Fine. But you'll come around eventually."

only she wouldn't, because she didn't like him.
