Trigger; abuse.

If Wally's dad/mom was abusive certain mannerisms would be adopted into the way he acts in certain situations. In other words, he's been classically conditioned (to whatever degree Anon decides) to see raised hands/loud and angry voices/etc. as threatening and precursors to abuse in certain situations, even if the situation is innocent. Understanding this I'd like to see:

Five times Wally/Kid Flash thought someone was going to hit him and acted accordingly and the one time someone did hit and he didn't act at all.

Bonus for one of the five being with Uncle Barry. Hugs for incorporating Uncle Barry/Flash into more than one.

(I tried to phrase this carefully as I know it's a touchy subject. I hope no one takes this the wrong way because I meant no harm! I just like Wally angst.)

no harm done, it's true to life. My mom had anger issues when I was younger, and even though she never hit us, she yelled a lot, and it terrified me and my brother. We still respond to yelling like we did as kids, even though it's been years since the last blow-up, and our behavior is maladaptive as fuck. It sucks for us, and sucks for my mom, who feels guilty as hell over our resulting issues. It's absolutely realistic for Wally to respond like that. And it makes great angst.

So, you know, seconded.

I hope this is along the lines of what you wanted.

1 - IrisWally loved the weekends. It meant he could go over to Aunt Iris’s house. She didn’t yell, shout, slam doors, or anything. Instead his aunt was full of smiles and hugs ( ... )

3 - BatmanKid Flash - uniform torn and a shallow gash along his forearm - tried not to squirm under the infamous batglare. However, as it was his first time facing the wrath of Batman he pretty much failed. The thirteen year old wondered how Robin handled it ( ... )

5 - RudolfRudolf paced back and forth, while Mary sat on the couch with a worried expression. Their son should have been home hours ago. Wally - or Kid Flash really - didn’t have a mission or patrol and nothing was attacking the city. He wasn’t at Iris’s; and, he wasn’t answering his phone either. Barry was on League business, unavailable to chase Wally down ( ... )

Aww, they're all such good friends. *hugs Rudolph* You're doing great, bb, keep at it!

My dad used to push my sister around physically a lot, she was the oldest. He almost shoved her down the stairs once, and my mom lost it on him. But he hasn't been rough with any of us in almost a decade. ^__^ So proud. <3

OP here!

Don't think for a second this wasn't what I wanted because it was exactly what I wanted and more! You chose great characters and you incorporated Barry into more than one! *giant hug!* That is so awesome, thank you!

"A hand caught his shoulder, bringing back a string of disjoined memories." I loved this line. Great description.

"His nephew had made a great, if slightly paranoid, friend." Heehehehehe. Robin. <3 I really liked the whole of Batman's section. It was nice and you wrote Batman being all giant and daunting really well ( ... )

Thanks! Glad you liked it.

I really like comic-Wally's past. It's kind of inspiring that a abused child can become a superhero. But I also like the Good!Wests YJ seems to have, so I found a way to fit them together.

Also about the +1, I was rewatching the episodes with a friend and noticed Wally doesn't do near the amount (if any) of the friendly hitting the others do. And the plot-bunny that left just worked for this prompt.
